Job description
The Partner Technical Specialist - Storage at IBM is a deeply technical sales role focused on enabling and influencing IBM partners across their technical strategies and solutions. The role involves engaging with IBMâs ecosystem of Build, Sell, and Service partners to embed IBM Storage solutions into their architectures. The specialist facilitates pre-sales technical activities, leads co-creation and demo sessions, and expands technical knowledge across partners. This hybrid position requires up to 40% travel and emphasizes collaborative engagement and experiential selling to promote IBM storage technologies in competitive markets.

Key responsibilities
- Facilitate pre-sales, experiential technical activities such as technology demonstrations and co-creation working sessions that lead to proofs of concept (PoC) and/or minimal viable products (MVPs)
- Lead the delivery of joint-learning activities to build technical skills and expertise of partners, enabling co-selling opportunities
- Continuously expand essential business, industry, technology, architecture, and competitive knowledge in Kubernetes, Red Hat, Docker, Cloud Foundry, Cloud Native Security, and Infrastructure
- Encourage a culture of growth-mindedness, co-creation, and technical eminence to deliver value that leverages industry, brand, and portfolio expertise to drive innovations
- Engage in complex architectural conversations with partners, demonstrating deep technical subject matter expertise in IBM Storage solutions
- Build trust and co-create partner solutions, embedding IBM offerings into client proposals
- Track usage of sales management systems and maintain disciplined follow-up and reporting
- Network and influence across technical and business teams during complex technology sales cycles
Experience & skills
- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Deep technical subject matter expertise in Storage products
- Proven experience in managing and closing complex technology sales cycles
- Strong networking, communication, and influencing skills across technical and business stakeholders
- Proficient in using sales management and CRM systems
- Experience facilitating technical demonstrations and co-creation sessions
- Knowledge of Kubernetes, Red Hat, Docker, Cloud Foundry, Cloud Native Security, and Infrastructure technologies
- Willingness to travel up to 40%
