Job description
The Service Engineer – Filling at SADAFCO is responsible for planning, executing, and optimizing preventive maintenance activities for filling and packaging lines within the milk factory to improve Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE), reduce maintenance conversion costs, minimize wastage, and eliminate quality failures and customer complaints. The role includes developing and implementing preventive maintenance schedules for filling and DE machines and associated packaging equipment including printers, conveying systems, sticker and label applicators, cardboard packers, film wrappers, accumulators, cup applicators, and robots. The position requires extensive hands-on expertise in Tetra Pak aseptic filling systems including TBA 8, TBA 19, TBA 21, TBA 22, A3 Speed, and A3 Flex machines. Responsibilities include spare parts planning, maintenance budget preparation, cross-functional collaboration with spare parts stores, planning, technical, production, and quality departments, and ensuring maintenance activities align with operational targets and KPIs. The Service Engineer monitors OEE, downtime, maintenance costs, and product quality metrics, prepares weekly and monthly reports, and supports continuous improvement initiatives. The role also includes troubleshooting mechanical, automation, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems, supervising start-up after preventive maintenance, participating in installation and commissioning of new equipment, ensuring aseptic packaging standards and package integrity requirements, and implementing health, safety, and food safety procedures while maintaining compliance with manufacturing and operational standards.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute preventive maintenance activities for filling and packaging lines by developing, implementing, reviewing, and improving preventive maintenance plans and schedules to enhance overall equipment effectiveness, reduce downtime, minimize maintenance conversion costs, and eliminate quality failures and customer complaints.
- Maintain preventive maintenance coverage for filling and DE machines and associated manufacturing packaging equipment including printers, conveying systems, sticker and label applicators, cardboard packers, film wrappers, accumulators, cup applicators, robots, and related automation systems to ensure operational reliability.
- Coordinate spare parts planning by arranging and ordering required spare parts, electronics, and consumables while considering delivery timelines, budget constraints, and operational priorities to maintain uninterrupted production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional departments including spare parts stores, planning, technical, production, and quality teams to communicate preventive maintenance schedules in advance and ensure operational alignment.
- Review and update preventive maintenance checklists, enforce maintenance procedures, ensure adherence to good maintenance practices, and maintain production lines in basic operating condition without compromising quality standards.
- Supervise system start-up following preventive maintenance activities ensuring safe, smooth, and efficient operation while identifying potential risks and reporting unsafe operations.
- Monitor department KPIs including OEE, maintenance costs, downtime, wastage, and quality failures, prepare weekly and monthly reports, and implement corrective actions to improve performance.
- Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and upgrades, train technicians and operators, assist in budget preparation and improvement projects, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and food safety procedures.
Experience & skills
- Possess technical education background with engineering degree considered an advantage and demonstrate strong technical expertise in filling and packaging systems within food or dairy manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrate at least 5 years hands-on technical experience servicing Tetra Pak filling and packaging systems including TBA 8, TBA 19, TBA 21, TBA 22, A3 Speed, and A3 Flex machines.
- Exhibit strong understanding of automation systems, mechanical operations, and maintenance practices related to filling and packaging production lines.
- Demonstrate ability to read and interpret P&ID diagrams, electrical diagrams, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic schematics for troubleshooting and maintenance.
- Possess extensive troubleshooting experience for technical malfunctions, equipment breakdowns, and system failures within manufacturing environments.
- Maintain strong knowledge of aseptic packaging systems and advanced package integrity requirements within food and beverage manufacturing.
- Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for reporting, maintenance tracking, and documentation management.
- Show ability to work under pressure, manage deadlines, communicate effectively in English, and maintain organizational discipline in maintenance planning and execution.
