Job description
The Mortgage Specialist at Emirates NBD is responsible for facilitating retail lending related to the purchase of homes, offices, and self-construction on existing plots, including registration and mortgage creation with developers and government authorities. The role encompasses reviewing customer applications for loan eligibility based on income and liabilities, adhering to Emirates NBD policies and UAE Central Bank guidelines. The position requires detailed analysis and underwriting of loans for self-employed, company, and salaried individuals. It involves evaluating audited financial statementsâbalance sheet, profit and loss, and cash flowâand preparing financial spreads and ratios including DSCR, debt to equity, current ratio, and others. The specialist ensures document accuracy, conducts compliance reviews, implements fraud detection techniques, prepares escalation reports for GRC/CBU/CLC/Compliance, and liaises with Sales for clarification. Maintaining various MIS reports and supporting audit and compliance requirements are also integral. The role includes on-site business verification visits and serving as an escalation and referral point for credit reviews and inputs to business teams, supporting team goals collaboratively with leadership. Fluency in both English and Arabic is required for success in this role.

- Review customer applications to assess loan repayment potential based on income and liabilities
- Apply Emirates NBD lending policies and UAE Central Bank guidelines to determine loan feasibility
- Analyze customer documents for salaried, self-employed, and company applicants
- Conduct business premises visits to understand business operations in depth
- Understand and analyze audited financial statements including balance sheets, P&L, and cash flow
- Prepare financial spreads and calculate ratios like DSCR, debt to equity, current ratio, liquid ratio, debtor and creditor days
- Examine transactions for accuracy and completeness
- Prepare escalation reports for GRC, CBU, CLC, and Compliance
- Ensure documentation complies with bank and regulatory guidelines
- Implement fraud detection and compliance review procedures
- Assist in loan renegotiations as per lending guidelines
- Liaise with Sales for application clarifications
- Maintain MIS including deviation and scorecard MIS
- Identify and document errors made by processors
- Respond to audit and compliance requirements
- Act as referral point for escalations, credit reviews, and business input
- Verify businesses on site when required
- Collaborate with team captain to achieve unit objectives
Experience & skills
- Experience in UAE Mortgage industry or Mortgage Credit SME
- Experience in Mortgage Registration, Loans, and Documentation
- Proficiency in Credit Analysis
- Fluent in English and Arabic - written and verbal
- Strong analytical skills
- Bachelorâs degree in finance or accountancy
