Job description
Deloitte Strategy and Research lead in Banking contractor role for 12 months with locations listed across Bahrain, Egypt, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and United Arab Emirates (with city locations stated as Abu Dhabi, Amman, Beirut, Cairo, Dubai, Jeddah, Manama, Riyadh) to enhance strategic advisory capabilities focused on banking clients. The role conducts banking industry analysis and research to identify market trends, customer needs and industry developments with the majority focused on the Middle East and ability to connect to global trends as a plus; maintains various benchmarks of banking clients sourced from media, brokers, client disclosures and relevant Deloitte client work; elevates analysis and benchmarks into strategic insights and presents them as part of executive discussion decks; presents insights to select clients in client meetings and follows up on queries. The ideal profile is an ex-consultant at Manager/Senior Manager level with strategy background who wants to move away from sales and delivery KPIs and work within enabling functions, measured on ability to do targeted research and turn data into relevant insights. Location is flexible but requires experience with Middle East banks or ideally being based in the Middle East, and because it is a contractor role the candidate must be able to self-sponsor (e.g., in Dubai only possible for Dependent / Golden visa holders). Qualifications include Bachelor’s or master’s degree, 8+ years of banking knowledge and experience with deep understanding of the industry and broader financial services sector, ability to turn research into strategic insights and present directly to clients, experience extracting insights and developing industry analysis briefings for senior leaders, excellent PowerPoint and Excel skills with expectation to prepare visually impactful discussion decks in PowerPoint and maintain benchmarking models in Excel using macros, pivots, charts and functions, keen attention to detail, excellent communication and ability to interact with multiple senior stakeholders, English fluency required and Arabic preferred.

- Conduct banking industry analysis and research to identify market trends, customer needs, and industry developments with a primary focus on the Middle East and connect findings to global trends where relevant
- Maintain various benchmarks of banking clients sourced from media, brokers, client disclosures, and relevant Deloitte client work
- Elevate analysis and benchmark outputs into strategic insights and prepare executive discussion decks
- Present strategic insights to select clients as part of client meetings and follow up on client queries
- Prepare visually impactful discussion decks in PowerPoint for senior leaders and executive discussions
- Maintain benchmarking models in Excel using macros, pivot tables, charts, and functions
- Develop industry analysis briefings by extracting insights and translating research into relevant strategic narratives for senior stakeholders
Experience & skills
- Work on a 12-month contractor basis and be able to self-sponsor as required for contractor roles (e.g., in Dubai dependent / Golden visa holders)
- Hold a Bachelor’s or master’s degree
- Bring 8+ years of banking knowledge and experience with deep understanding of banking and the broader financial services sector
- Bring prior experience with Middle East banks or be based in the Middle East and be able to connect Middle East analysis to global trends (plus)
- Be an ex-consultant at Manager or Senior Manager level with strategy background and be open to working within enabling functions rather than sales and delivery KPIs
- Turn targeted research and data into relevant strategic insights and present insights directly to clients with confidence
- Demonstrate experience extracting insights and developing industry analysis briefings for senior leaders
- Demonstrate excellent PowerPoint skills and produce visually impactful discussion decks in PowerPoint
- Demonstrate excellent Excel skills and maintain benchmarking models using Excel macros, pivot tables, charts, and functions
- Demonstrate keen attention to detail and strong communication with ability to interact with multiple senior stakeholders
- Demonstrate English language fluency and Arabic language capability (preferred)
