Job description
In this role you will gain experience leading a large and diverse team to make sure your area of the business keeps pace with demand at Amazon. In this hands-on role, you will learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. You will promote a culture of safety and wellbeing, and you are responsible for analysing and implementing corrective actions to ensure quality and productivity remain at consistently high levels across all shifts. Your responsibilities include supporting and leading a team, handling administrative work while building and supporting a strong team culture. You will analyse performance and suggest process improvements to optimise work and improve customer service, and you are responsible for collaborating with other managers to standardise shift processes. You will work shifts based at one of Amazon's operational sites, maintaining safety standards within your team and across the site while monitoring and maintaining process efficiency. In this role you will prioritise routine team management and daily operational tasks alongside individual escalations, process improvement work, and wide-scale operational contingency planning. You will work with colleagues in other teams and external partners to meet customer demands and targets, analysing data and performance metrics with business area leaders and discussing technical improvements with engineers.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Promote a culture of safety and wellbeing
- Analyse and implement corrective actions to make sure quality and productivity are at consistently high levels across all shifts
- Support and lead a team and handle administrative work alongside building and supporting a strong team culture
- Analyse performance and suggest process improvements to optimise work and improve customer service

Experience & skills
- Bring 1 or more years of employee and performance management experience, reflecting the direct people-leadership responsibility this role carries over a large, diverse operational team
- Hold a bachelor's degree or equivalent, or have 2 or more years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience, showing Amazon's willingness to accept internal operational experience as a substitute for a formal degree
- Be able to work a flexible schedule, shift, or work area, including weekends, nights, and holidays, since fulfillment center operations run continuously around customer demand rather than standard business hours
- Be physically able to push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts, reflecting the hands-on, floor-based nature of this operational leadership role
- 1 or more years of experience with performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques is preferred, supporting the role's emphasis on analysing performance and suggesting improvements to optimise work
- Demonstrate the ability to lead and support a team while also handling administrative responsibilities, since the role blends people management with operational and paperwork duties
- Show comfort operating in a fast-paced, hands-on environment where priorities can shift daily, consistent with the role's description that no two days will be the same
- Demonstrate the ability to prioritise effectively across routine team management, individual escalations, and larger contingency planning work simultaneously
- Show collaborative instincts suited to working closely with other Area or Shift Managers to standardise processes across shifts
- Demonstrate the ability to work cross-functionally with other teams and external partners, since the role requires coordinating with colleagues beyond the immediate team to meet broader customer demand targets
- Show basic comfort with data and performance metrics, given the role's expectation of analysing this information alongside business area leaders and discussing technical trade-offs with engineers
