Job description
As a Senior Consultant in Grant Thornton UAEās Business Risk Services (BRS) team, you will play a key role in delivering high-impact IT audit and risk advisory engagements to clients across diverse industries. You will provide strategic guidance to organizations in identifying, assessing, and mitigating technology and business risks, ensuring compliance with leading frameworks and regulatory standards. This position demands a blend of technical expertise, analytical capability, and client-facing experience. The Senior Consultant will work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to plan and execute engagements, evaluate IT controls, and deliver recommendations that strengthen governance, enhance security, and optimize operational resilience. Operating within a fast-paced consulting environment, you will also support business development initiatives and contribute to the continuous growth of Grant Thorntonās risk advisory practice in the UAE. Key responsibilities
- Lead and execute IT audit and risk advisory engagements from planning through to reporting, ensuring high-quality delivery within defined budgets and timelines.
- Conduct IT risk assessments, evaluate business processes, and assess internal controls to identify areas for improvement and risk mitigation.
- Perform IT general controls (ITGC) testing across applications, databases, networks, and operating systems to evaluate control effectiveness.
- Execute reviews of access controls, network configurations, database security, and cybersecurity governance frameworks.
- Assess IT policies, standards, and compliance with frameworks such as COBIT, ISO 27001, NIST, and related cybersecurity and risk management standards.
- Collaborate with business process owners and technical teams to design control improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Develop and maintain documentation for audit procedures, findings, and risk assessments with high precision and attention to detail.
- Apply data analytics tools and techniques to identify anomalies and patterns within large datasets supporting audit and compliance outcomes.
- Engage with clients to understand business processes, gather insights, and present findings in a clear, professional manner.
- Support partners and senior management in preparing proposals, presentations, and client pitches for business development.
- Contribute to knowledge sharing, staff training, and process improvement initiatives within the BRS team.
- Maintain professional ethics and confidentiality while ensuring compliance with engagement and firm policies.
- Travel to client locations as required for audits, assessments, and stakeholder meetings.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Accounting, or related field.
- Minimum of 4 yearsā experience in IT Audit, Risk Advisory, or Cybersecurity Consulting, ideally within a Big Four or top-tier professional services firm.
- Professional qualification or progression toward certification such as CISA, CIA, CISSP, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of IT general controls (ITGCs), application controls, and cybersecurity frameworks (ISO 27001, COBIT, NIST, ITIL).
- Experience in performing system audits, risk assessments, and IT governance reviews.
- Proficiency in data analytics tools (e.g., Excel, ACL, IDEA, Power BI) for audit automation and insights.
- Working knowledge of access control systems, firewalls, network security, operating systems, and database configurations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in English (Arabic is an advantage).
- Strong analytical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to document findings in a structured manner.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and adapt to changing priorities in a dynamic consulting environment.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment to client service.
- Availability to travel regularly within the UAE and internationally for client engagements.
