Job description
Responsible for leading Majid Al Futtaim Retailās expansion strategy across new and existing markets in Saudi Arabia and beyond. The Director of Business Development identifies high-potential market opportunities, oversees feasibility studies, manages retail location development, and ensures the successful execution of expansion projects. This role serves as a key strategic driver for growth, coordinating across internal teams and external partners, delivering projects on time and within budget, and providing actionable insights to senior management.

- Lead the planning and execution of retail expansion strategies across multiple markets
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new market opportunities including site selection and retail location development
- Conduct comprehensive feasibility studies, considering market conditions, regulatory requirements, and partnership potential
- Manage and monitor expansion projects ensuring delivery within timelines, budgets, and company objectives
- Collaborate with internal teams, including operations, finance, and marketing, to ensure seamless project execution
- Analyze market trends, competitor activity, and customer insights to identify business opportunities
- Support country development strategies and provide recommendations for regional expansion initiatives
- Prepare business reports, dashboards, and updates for senior management on project progress and market performance
- Negotiate key agreements with external stakeholders, landlords, and service providers as required
- Implement risk mitigation strategies and ensure compliance with company policies and local regulations
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field; Masterās degree preferred
- Minimum 9 years of experience in business development, expansion, or strategic management roles, preferably in retail or related industries
- Proven track record in leading market expansion projects and delivering measurable growth outcomes
- Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
- Experience managing cross-functional teams and coordinating with multiple stakeholders
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple concurrent projects
- Knowledge of retail operations, real estate development, and market entry strategies
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance, budgeting, and feasibility assessment processes
- High level of business acumen and commercial awareness
