Job description
The Senior Estimator (Oil & Gas and Heavy Engineering Projects) is responsible for carrying out estimating works to deliver accurate, thorough, and professional base cost estimates for company tenders related to new-build onshore and offshore projects within Lamprellās Proposals Group. The role is critical to ensuring precise and timely cost estimation that forms the basis of pricing in all company tenders, supporting continuous commercial success. The position involves reviewing Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents, analysing requirements, and coordinating with internal departments to ensure compliance with ITT specifications. The role supports procurement activities by soliciting proposals from material suppliers, equipment vendors, and subcontractors, and participates in technical and commercial clarification processes. Responsibilities include developing estimating plans, preparing Basis of Estimate documents, utilising historical estimating data, and ensuring estimates are competitive and benchmarked. The role also includes conducting site inspections, managing tender documentation, attending tender review and project start-up meetings, and handing over estimating data to project and contract teams. The position requires adherence to ISO 9001 Quality Management System, API Q1, API 4F, and API 16C standards, as well as compliance with HSES policies and information security procedures. The Senior Estimator leads and supervises discipline estimators, supports performance improvement initiatives, and contributes to proposal reporting and operational efficiency within heavy engineering environments including oil and gas, marine, and renewables sectors.

Key responsibilities
- Lead and supervise discipline estimators to ensure accurate, professional, and timely completion of base cost estimates
- Review and analyse Invitation to Tender (ITT) documents to assess requirements and ensure compliance
- Coordinate with internal departments to gather inputs and ensure alignment with ITT specifications
- Prepare and raise technical and commercial clarifications for communication with clients during tender periods
- Support procurement by soliciting proposals from material suppliers, equipment vendors, and subcontractors
- Attend tender review meetings and contribute to pre- and post-submission discussions
- Conduct site inspections in coordination with project teams to define and quantify scope of work
- Develop estimating plans and prepare Basis of Estimate documents for tender submissions
- Utilise historical estimating data to prepare accurate and expedited cost estimates
- Ensure all estimates are competitive, benchmarked, and aligned with commercial objectives
- Document and manage all tender-related correspondence and data systematically
- Support project handover by compiling estimating data and attending project start-up meetings
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, API Q1, API 4F, API 16C, HSES policies, and information security procedures
- Contribute to proposals team activities including reporting, performance improvement, and training initiatives
- Assist in achieving target revenue by delivering accurate and timely tender estimates
Experience & skills
- Possess minimum 10 years of commercial experience in heavy engineering industry within a large proposals department
- Demonstrate at least 8 years of experience in oil and gas or renewables sector
- Exhibit knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management System
- Demonstrate familiarity with API Q1, API 4F, and API 16C standards
- Hold tertiary qualifications in a related discipline and preferably a postgraduate qualification
- Demonstrate experience in cost estimation, tendering, and preparation of estimating plans and basis of estimate documents
- Exhibit ability to coordinate procurement activities and manage vendor and subcontractor proposals
- Demonstrate experience conducting site inspections and working with project teams
- Show capability to handle estimation and proposals issues proactively in complex engineering environments
- Demonstrate experience in HSES compliance and adherence to information security policies
