It conducts in-depth market research across global and regional supplyâdemand trends, trade flows, pricing structures, and refinery margins; analyzes the effects of macroeconomic factors, geopolitical events, regulatory changes, and technological advancements on the oil and gas market; and develops short-term and long-term price forecasts for crude, refinery products, and feedstocks using advanced statistical models and market intelligence tools. The position collects, interprets, and presents market data from market reports, trade publications, and governmental agencies; prepares regular and ad hoc reports and presentations for senior management; tracks competitor activities, refinery expansions, new project developments, and shifts in market dynamics; and provides insights on market opportunities, risks, and competitive threats. It collaborates with refinery operations, procurement, trading, and other internal stakeholders to align market insights with business goals; assists in market entry strategies, pricing models, and long-term business planning for refinery products and crude sourcing; conducts scenario planning and risk assessments to evaluate market volatility impacts on operations and profitability; and recommends hedging strategies and risk mitigation plans. The role provides LP Input and assumptions to the Global Market within Commercial, forecasts pricing for short- and long-term strategic plans, analyzes actual sales and reports deviations to conceptualize SLAs and any storage surcharge penalties, monitors off-takersâ overdue payments and drives stakeholder follow-through on exported product invoices under the Refinery Sales Agreement, escalates delays, and recommends corrective actions to ensure continuous operations. It supports feasibility studies for new initiatives or business improvements to maximize netback, challenges projected local demand to derive realistic domestic demand for supplyâdemand strategy, reconciles systems conflicts, decomposes and abstracts information to identify real business issues, and recommends action plans. The role includes daily interaction with production planning and Commercial, cross-functional coordination with Optimization, Operations, Product Development, Scheduling and Logistics, Marketing Intelligence and Oil Accounting Integration Program Operations, Finance, Sales, and Supply Chain, and external engagement with plastic convertors, compounders, engineers, consultants, and end-users, all within an office environment with intensive computer use and travel as needed.
