Job description
The Track Design Lead will oversee and coordinate slab track design activities for railway infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi, ensuring compliance with project specifications, engineering codes, and international railway standards including EN, AREMA, UIC, and project-specific codes. The role involves performing detailed technical reviews of design drawings, calculations, and specifications to maintain design quality, consistency, and engineering accuracy. The Track Design Lead will develop and implement innovative engineering solutions to address technical challenges and project constraints while planning and managing design schedules aligned with project milestones and delivery deadlines. The position requires identifying and mitigating technical and design risks throughout the project lifecycle to ensure smooth execution and maintaining communication with clients as the main point of contact for slab track design matters. The role includes collaboration with multidisciplinary teams including Civil, Structural, Signaling, and Electrical disciplines to achieve integrated rail infrastructure designs. The Track Design Lead will liaise with vendors and contractors to ensure design compliance during procurement and construction phases and ensure adherence to railway safety standards and performance requirements. Responsibilities include conducting static and dynamic load analyses, fatigue assessments, and Track-Structure Interaction (TSI) evaluations to validate structural integrity, operational performance, and durability of slab track systems. The role also involves proposing design optimizations for cost efficiency, maintainability, and durability, supervising simulations, prototypes, and field validation tests, and preparing comprehensive design documentation including reports, drawings, and calculation records. The Track Design Lead will report technical progress and issues to project managers and senior leadership, implement quality assurance and quality control measures throughout all design stages, mentor junior engineers, organize technical training sessions on slab track design concepts, software tools including Midas Civil, STAAD Pro, SAP2000, and applicable railway standards, address technical queries during design and construction phases, and provide on-site technical support during installation or construction when required. The role requires in-depth knowledge of slab track systems, material properties, construction techniques, installation practices, maintenance requirements, inspection practices, and integration with supporting structures within railway engineering projects.
