Job description
The Financial Planning & Appraisal Analyst ā Trading at QatarEnergy Trading is responsible for supporting financial planning, budgeting, and management information (MI) reporting frameworks for QET and its subsidiaries across geographies and trading instruments. The role involves using modelling tools to support a dynamic and complex commodity and energy trading business. The analyst must have a deep understanding of trading finance, derivatives, and mark-to-market concepts, and their impact on P&L, cash flow, and funding. Responsibilities include detailed financial analysis, innovative reporting, stakeholder coordination, and maintaining high levels of data accuracy. The position requires proficiency in SAP and CTRM systems, analytical tools, and dashboards. A Bachelor's degree is required with preference for candidates holding a professional financial qualification such as ACA, CPA, CIMA, or CFA. A postgraduate qualification such as MSc or MBA is considered a plus.

- Support financial planning and budgeting processes for QET and its subsidiaries
- Operate financial modelling tools to support a dynamic trading environment
- Develop and deliver Management Information (MI) reports and analytics
- Conduct detailed financial analysis to support P&L and cash flow monitoring
- Apply mark-to-market principles to evaluate market and price volatility impacts
- Ensure accurate financial reporting across multiple trading geographies and instruments
- Coordinate with stakeholders to align financial reporting with business strategy
- Utilize SAP and CTRM systems for financial data management and reporting
- Leverage analytical tools and dashboards to improve reporting processes
- Innovate reporting methods to meet the evolving needs of the trading business
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās degree in Science, Economics, or Business Administration from a recognized university
- Possess a professional qualification such as ACA, CPA, CIMA, or CFA (preferred)
- Postgraduate qualification (MSc or MBA) is a plus
- Have at least 8 years of experience in Trading Finance and financial analysis
- Understand commodity and energy trading and derivatives
- Demonstrate knowledge of mark-to-market, P&L, cash flow, and funding impacts
- Show proficiency in SAP and CTRM systems
- Exhibit strong analytical, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
- Be highly computer literate and experienced with analytical tools and dashboards
- Display the ability to work independently with attention to detail
