Job description
The National Curriculum for England and Wales shapes every lesson at Jebel Ali School, one of the largest British curriculum schools in the UAE and part of the Taaleem group in Dubai. Science is taught across the whole school here, and this post calls for a qualified Science Teacher with a specialisation in Chemistry and a track record of outstanding results. Planning comes first, with schemes of work built around each student's learning needs, styles and capabilities. From there you set and mark work, assess progress through formative and summative methods, and use data to set targets and shape the lessons that follow. ICT and new technologies are expected to play a real part in how students of all ages and attainment levels are taught. Pastoral care carries equal weight, including spotting safeguarding concerns and keeping discipline fair and consistent in class, around the school and on trips. Regular, open contact with parents about attainment and progress is part of the job, handled with strict confidentiality. Outside lessons, there are after-school activities to plan, department meetings to contribute to, and the occasional evening or weekend community event. Embedding UAE heritage and culture within the curriculum is also expected, with the post starting in January 2027.
