Job description
The Smart Cities – Senior Program Specialist role is responsible for the end-to-end execution and delivery of smart cities projects within Honeywell, operating in Abu Dhabi and supporting large-scale smart city, IoT, and software integration initiatives. The position serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day coordination with all project stakeholders, leading project execution from handover from the estimation team through delivery and closeout. The role requires deep expertise in smart city platforms, Internet of Things (IoT), and software integrations, combined with strong project governance, financial oversight, and compliance with best-in-class project management methodologies and practices. The specialist develops and maintains detailed project management plans covering scope, time, cost, procurement, risk, and performance, ensures projects are delivered on time and within scope, manages changes through variation orders, oversees procurement planning, tracks project performance, monitors monthly financial metrics including revenue recognition, margins, invoicing, and cash collection, and coordinates Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) activities with the HSE department. The role operates within Honeywell’s automation, energy, sustainability, and smart infrastructure ecosystem, supporting delivery of complex smart city solutions aligned with organizational and stakeholder objectives.

Key responsibilities
- Execute smart cities projects with overall responsibility for successful delivery across all project phases
- Act as the main point of contact for all day-to-day project activities with internal and external stakeholders
- Apply strong smart city and IoT expertise while working with smart city platforms and software integrations
- Lead the project handover process from the estimation team into execution
- Develop and maintain detailed project management plans covering scope, schedule, cost, procurement, risk, and performance domains
- Execute and deliver projects using best-in-class project management methodologies and practices
- Deliver projects on time, within scope, and with zero or positive marginal improvement
- Manage changes to scope, schedule, or cost through structured variation orders
- Liaise internally with project resources and externally with vendors to ensure coordinated execution
- Develop and manage procurement plans as part of the overall project management plan
- Identify project risks and develop appropriate risk response strategies
- Track, monitor, and report on overall project performance
- Monitor monthly project financial performance including revenue recognition, margins, invoicing, and cash collection
- Manage Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) related project activities in coordination with the HSE department
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Demonstrate more than 10 years of project management experience with direct exposure to smart cities, IoT, and software integration projects
- Possess Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, which is preferred
- Demonstrate familiarity with project management software tools, methodologies, and best practices, including strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Exhibit experience in budget allocation and management covering resources, tools, and personnel while maintaining financial control across projects
