Job description
The Design Manager at Mace will contribute to the successful delivery of major sports stadiums and associated infrastructure projects in Saudi Arabia. Working closely with the Lead Architect and Senior Design Manager, the role involves ensuring cohesive design management, scheduling and conducting technical reviews, validating engineering proposals, and overseeing consultant deliverables throughout all project stages. Key responsibilities include interdisciplinary value engineering reviews, compliance monitoring, implementing EXPRO standards, and supporting dashboard reporting to EPMO and leadership. The role requires architectural expertise, experience in GCC mega-projects, and familiarity with local design culture, environmental considerations, and LEED principles. Candidates must be proficient in CAD/BIM and demonstrate strong project/program management capabilities.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Assist Lead Architect and Senior Design Manager in developing client brief, design strategy, and execution
- Ensure cohesive design management across all project stages
- Support scheduling and facilitation of design reviews at project gateways and control points
- Manage technical and constructability reviews of design deliverables
- Monitor compliance with project brief, specifications, and quality standards
- Review engineering proposals and contract changes for alignment with project goals
- Conduct interdisciplinary reviews to support value engineering initiatives
- Implement and ensure adherence to EXPRO standards, tools, and processes
- Validate consultant claims and ensure high-quality deliverables
- Support dashboard reporting and escalate concerns to EPMO and Engineering leadership
Experience & skills
- Hold a degree in Architecture
- Have at least 12 years of experience in design, project, or program management
- Demonstrate experience in GCC mega-projects; experience with sports-related infrastructure is a plus
- Understand local cultural, heritage, and environmental considerations in design
- Be proficient in CAD/BIM software and familiar with LEED and industry standards
