Job description
Grant Thornton UAE is hiring a Resource Manager in Dubai within Internal Client Services (ICS) to ensure the right people are assigned to the right projects at the right time, directly impacting project delivery, employee engagement, and operational efficiency. The role spans staffing and allocation based on skills, availability, and career goals; balancing workloads; resolving staffing conflicts; and encouraging resource sharing across the firm. It includes forecasting and capacity planning with business leaders using pipeline insights to identify skills gaps and recommend hiring or contractor solutions, feeding monthly forecasts on shortages/surpluses and utilization opportunities. The manager will monitor billable hours and utilization rates, deliver leadership reports, and partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, and People & Culture to align staffing with development plans, backfill strategies, stretch assignments, retention, and coverage-area needs. The position collaborates with project managers, department heads, and client leads to understand project needs, acts as liaison to resolve bottlenecks, and leverages resource management tools (Retain, Mavenlink, Float, Kimble, SAP) to track availability and assignments while maintaining accurate data on skills, certifications, and preferences. Responsibilities include analysis of availability, utilization, and open role status; identifying issues, trends, and forecast vs. actual variances; and maintaining a steady pulse on shortages and surpluses in a matrix, multi-disciplinary environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and comfort with reporting and analytics, utilization tracking, headcount planning, and scenario modeling are essential, alongside experience handling high-value competing demands and aligning staffing with business priorities.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Match consultants and professionals to client projects based on skills, availability, and career goals while balancing workloads across teams to prevent burnout or underutilization.
- Resolve staffing conflicts and navigate escalations with the business, proposing creative alternatives and prioritization aligned to project needs.
- Collaborate with business leaders to forecast demand from pipeline and upcoming projects, identify capacity or skills gaps, and recommend hiring or contractor solutions.
- Provide inputs for monthly forecasts covering shortages, surpluses, headcount management, and utilization improvement opportunities.
- Monitor billable hours and utilization rates, produce resource performance reports, and present insights to leadership.
- Partner with HR, Talent Acquisition, and People & Culture to align staffing with career development plans, identify stretch assignments, and implement backfill strategies to minimize operational impact from turnover.
- Serve as a point of contact for available team members in assigned coverage areas and influence retention by aligning scheduling with preferences and career goals.
- Engage project managers, department heads, and client leads to understand project needs and act as liaison between delivery teams and leadership to resolve conflicts or bottlenecks.
- Use resource management tools (Retain, Mavenlink, Float, Kimble, SAP) to track availability and assignments, and maintain accurate data on skills, certifications, and preferences.
- Analyze availability, utilization, and open role status; identify issues, trends, and forecast vs. actual variances to drive operational excellence and maintain a pulse on shortages and surpluses.
