Job description
Wood seeks a Senior Project Engineer to support a portfolio of onshore capital projects for an international operator, with execution support from Wood Iraq and UAE offices. The Sharjah-based (5/2 schedule) role manages engineering projects across multidisciplinary interfaces, third parties and client liaison, delivering both Greenfield and Brownfield modification projects and integrating low-carbon solutions that support energy transition and emissions reduction goals. Key accountabilities include leading successful project delivery; coordinating discipline engineers, supporting departments and external stakeholders; reporting day-to-day activities to the Project Manager/Project Lead; ensuring compliance with Woodâs Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) policies and procedures; developing and managing project plans, schedules and budgets to meet client expectations; coordinating with clients, vendors, subcontractors and other third parties; holding and minuting weekly progress meetings with discipline engineers, assigning ownership and driving actions to timely closure; managing project risks, issues and changes to minimize schedule and budget impact; ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders; developing and maintaining project documentation, reports and records; establishing WBS structure and aligning proposals and CTR development with an emphasis on scope development; delivering to agreed schedule dates; preparing Weekly Project Dashboards; driving interface management with the Clientâs Engineering, Operations and Maintenance teams to ensure a consistent approach to completion; and daily relationship management with the client and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities
- Lead multidisciplinary project engineering execution and coordinate interfaces with third parties and the client to ensure successful delivery
- Develop, baseline and manage project plans, schedules and budgets aligned to client expectations and contract requirements
- Report day-to-day progress, issues and risk status to the Project Manager/Project Lead and escalate as required
- Ensure strict compliance with Woodâs HSEQ policies, procedures and standards across all project activities
- Coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors and external stakeholders to secure inputs and approvals for timely delivery
- Hold and minute weekly progress meetings with discipline engineers, assign action ownership and drive actions to closure
- Identify, assess and manage project risks, issues and changes to minimize impact on schedule and cost
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, registers, records and weekly Project Dashboards for internal and client reporting
- Establish the WBS and align proposals and CTR development with clear scope definition and control
- Drive interface management by liaising with Client Engineering, Operations and Maintenance to ensure a consistent completion approach
- Maintain daily relationship management with the client and stakeholders to resolve blockers and align expectations
- Deliver project milestones and overall scope to agreed schedule dates and quality standards
Experience & skills
- Degree qualification in a relevant engineering discipline
- Minimum 10 yearsâ experience in the oil and gas industry with EPC project experience
- Proven experience managing engineering projects with multidisciplinary interfaces, third-party interfaces and client liaison
- Experience in upstream oil and gas (Brownfield and Greenfield)
- Experience with project cost control and planning systems
- Familiarity with projects in Iraq (Basra region) and/or GCC (preferable)
- Excellent leadership, communication and project management skills; able to supervise and delegate
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, multicultural environment and prioritize multiple tasks and projects
- Good oral and written communication; strong interpersonal skills and a team-player mindset
