Job description
Omantel is hiring a Senior Engineer, Business Systems Support to join its Digital & Applications Division at the head office in Muscat. This role is crucial to ensuring the reliable operation, monitoring, and enhancement of core IT applications, aligning IT services with business goals and supporting strategic digital transformation. The engineer will oversee daily application operations, manage incidents and user access, implement enhancements, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize business systems. A hands-on and detail-oriented leader with strong analytical capabilities, application monitoring expertise, and a background in mobile communications will thrive in this high-impact role.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Regularly monitor business systems and applications to ensure optimal performance and issue resolution.
- Perform user and security administration tasks, including access management and compliance checks.
- Lead incident management by responding to and resolving reported system issues.
- Support unit, integration, and system testing activities to ensure smooth deployments.
- Deploy, maintain, and configure enterprise applications, applying patches and updates as needed.
- Liaise with development teams and vendors for system enhancements and performance improvements.
- Oversee batch processing schedules and manage troubleshooting of failed processes.
- Create and maintain detailed system documentation, including procedures and troubleshooting guides.
- Log, prioritize, and escalate application support requests in coordination with the service desk.
- Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and ensure adherence to coding and IT standards.
- Monitor and improve application performance through tuning and reconfiguration.
- Ensure compliance with information governance and data protection standards across supported systems.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Computer Science & Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum 6 years of experience in application operations, IT systems maintenance, or business systems support.
- Strong understanding of mobile communications systems and project delivery in a telecom environment.
- Expert attention to detail with advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience with application performance monitoring, patch management, and incident response.
- Proficiency in IT systems documentation, security controls, and batch job management.
- Competent in stakeholder coordination across business, testing, and development teams.
- Familiarity with domain-specific telecom applications and industry standards is preferred.
