Job description
The Senior Product Developer – Makeup is responsible for the end-to-end development of cosmetic makeup products within a beauty and personal care environment, focusing on formulation, testing, scale-up, and launch readiness of products such as foundations, lip products, eyeshadows, and primers. The role involves creating and refining cosmetic formulations that meet defined performance requirements including texture, shade range, wear performance, stability, and consumer appeal. The developer prepares prototypes, batch records, and detailed formulation documentation to support internal review and production scale-up activities. The role includes conducting bench testing and instrumental analysis to evaluate key product attributes such as color accuracy, wear duration, transfer resistance, viscosity, particle size distribution, and product stability under both accelerated and real-time conditions. The position ensures full compliance with cosmetic regulatory frameworks, ingredient restrictions, and labeling requirements across target markets, while collaborating closely with regulatory and quality teams to maintain safety assessments and technical documentation supporting product claims. The role also supports stability testing, preservative efficacy testing, and microbiological safety assessments, implementing corrective actions when formulations fail to meet specifications. Additionally, the product developer coordinates in-vivo testing, consumer trials, sensory panels, and shade matching studies to gather actionable insights for product optimization. The role works cross-functionally with merchandising and marketing teams to translate consumer insights into product features, positioning, and commercial strategies. The position also involves supplier and manufacturing collaboration for raw material sourcing, pigment selection, packaging components, and cost optimization while supporting tech transfers and pilot-to-production scale-up processes. The Senior Product Developer maintains full documentation of formulation files, specifications, cost sheets, and change control records, ensuring alignment with internal procedures and regulatory requirements. The role contributes to cost estimation, margin analysis, packaging inputs, and launch readiness activities to ensure timely and commercially viable product introductions to the market.
