Job description
The Senior Economist at S&P Global Market Intelligence is responsible for providing macroeconomic forecasting, modelling, and country risk analysis focused on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. Reporting to the Head of the MENA team, this Dubai-based role involves monitoring economic and financial developments, preparing economic forecasts using proprietary models, and delivering insights and in-depth publications that support strategic decision-making for governments, NGOs, multinational corporations, and supranational organizations. The role requires active contribution to regular regional outlooks, risk briefings, and internal/external client interactions, including participation in conferences, client meetings, and webcasts. This economist will serve as a thought leader in the MENA space, supporting the commercial expansion of the firm's economic research services while maintaining a strong independent research and communication capability. Collaboration across global teams and the ability to present complex economic concepts to non-specialist audiences are essential to success in this role.

Key responsibilities
- Monitor economic and financial developments in MENA countries and produce relevant analyses.
- Forecast economic conditions for assigned countries using S&P Globalās economic models.
- Collaborate with global research teams and internal business units.
- Produce regular publications such as headline reports, monthly and quarterly outlooks.
- Author deep-dive reports on strategic regional topics for stakeholders and clients.
- Conduct briefings and presentations for internal and external clients, including conferences and webcasts.
- Respond to research inquiries from clients and internal teams.
- Participate in regular team and client calls across European and US business hours.
- Support sales teams during client and prospect meetings across the MENA region.
- Contribute to the expansion of S&P Globalās economic and country risk research solutions.
Experience & skills
- Masterās degree or PhD in Economics or closely related discipline with rigorous coursework.
- 7ā10 years of professional experience in economic forecasting, research, or consulting.
- Proven expertise in analyzing and forecasting economies within the MENA region.
- Fluency in both English and Arabic.
- Advanced analytical skills with experience in handling large economic datasets.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Experience with EViews and econometric forecasting tools is a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with ability to author analytical publications.
- Experience presenting economic concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively across time zones.
