Job description
The Senior Engineer – Electro Mechanical role within Omantel’s Technology and Infrastructure division is responsible for providing management, operation, maintenance, fault attendance, fault clearance, and power-related support to the Infrastructure Services department. The role focuses on maintaining essential electro-mechanical equipment and power systems with an emphasis on sustainability, safety, optimal resource utilization, and infrastructure reliability. The position is heavily site-based and supports multiple operations functions through hands-on technical execution, team supervision, contractor management, and compliance with Omantel’s internal policies, preventive maintenance (PPM) processes, and legislative regulations. Responsibilities include power system dimensioning, technology evaluation, budgeting support, maintenance planning, capacity monitoring, energy inspections, database management, acceptance testing, certification, and continuous improvement of operational procedures to enhance efficiency, cost optimization, and service continuity.

- Review and recommend dimensioning of power systems and electro-mechanical equipment based on business forecasts and operational trends
- Analyze emerging technologies and industry trends to improve infrastructure efficiency, consistency, and cost optimization
- Develop and implement departmental processes, procedures, and working methods in compliance with internal policies and legislative regulations
- Support preparation of OPEX and CAPEX budgets based on forecasts, identified issues, and infrastructure requirements
- Identify obsolete systems, required upgrades, and upcoming replacement requirements
- Track, monitor, and control team KPIs and daily operational tasks, providing monthly maintenance reports
- Prepare and manage preventive maintenance, on-call, and standby duty schedules in full compliance with Omantel PPM processes
- Oversee and follow up on fault clearance activities, reporting progress to management
- Attend ATP activities and provide technical observations and recommendations
- Establish and maintain comprehensive databases for sites, equipment, spare parts, systems, and maintenance records
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance works executed by internal teams and contractors
- Conduct field management surveillance, audits, site surveys, inspections, acceptance testing, certification, and energy efficiency assessments
- Liaise with Omantel NOC on a 24-hour basis for network-related power and infrastructure issues
- Manage spare parts inventory, logistics coordination, and regular database updates
- Support and manage subcontractor works ensuring scope, quality, and process compliance
- Monitor HVAC system capacity and load through standardized reporting to identify expansion needs in advance
- Verify as-built quantities and certify PAC and FAC documentation
- Ensure all teams adhere strictly to operational standards, policies, and procedures while identifying and recommending continuous improvement initiatives
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering (Communications) or a relevant engineering discipline
- Possess 6–8 years of total professional experience in electro-mechanical, power systems, or telecommunications infrastructure operations
- Demonstrate hands-on experience in power systems, HVAC, preventive and corrective maintenance, and electro-mechanical infrastructure
- Have practical knowledge of AutoCAD, PLC, automation, inspection, procurement, testing, and contract management
- Exhibit experience working in site-based operational environments supporting telecom network and facility operations
