Job description
The Manager β Commercial Governance is responsible for regulating and controlling quality and compliance standards across commercial partners and stakeholders within airport retail and commercial operations. The role focuses on ensuring commercial activities align with internal governance policies, regulatory requirements, and performance standards across DXB and DWC operations. The position involves managing compliance programs, supporting audit activities, and overseeing governance frameworks to ensure operational excellence. The Manager works closely with stakeholders to monitor compliance performance, evaluate commercial tenders, and implement corrective actions based on audit findings. The role also involves analyzing performance data, benchmarking against industry standards, and preparing narrative reports for senior management. Additionally, the position supports policy development, process alignment, and governance initiatives while ensuring compliance with local legislation and international retail standards. This role requires strong analytical capabilities, governance expertise, and stakeholder management skills within a fast-paced airport retail environment.

Key responsibilities
- Review and evaluate commercial processes, policies, procedures, and operating manuals to ensure alignment with internal governance standards, regulatory requirements, and operational performance benchmarks. The Manager ensures that all commercial frameworks are compliant with organizational policies and local legislation while continuously identifying opportunities for process improvement.
- Manage compliance across all commercial activities within airport retail and commercial operations to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards and governance requirements. The role involves monitoring performance, identifying compliance gaps, and implementing corrective actions to maintain high operational standards.
- Support internal and external audit activities by coordinating with stakeholders, gathering required documentation, and preparing responses to audit findings. The Manager also ensures corrective actions are implemented effectively and tracks progress against audit recommendations.
- Establish and maintain relationships with commercial partners and customers to understand operational requirements, industry dynamics, and performance expectations. The role requires collaboration with stakeholders to align governance frameworks with business objectives.
- Support technical submission evaluations for commercial tenders by analyzing proposals, assessing compliance with requirements, and providing recommendations to support decision-making processes.
- Monitor and manage corrective actions arising from audit findings and quality compliance reviews. The Manager maintains accurate documentation and ensures timely resolution of issues to strengthen governance controls.
- Compile statistical data, conduct benchmarking analysis against key clients and industry best practices, and provide insights to improve commercial governance performance.
- Prepare narrative reports summarizing compliance findings, operational performance, and governance outcomes for senior management and stakeholders.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorβs degree in Business Administration, Finance, Commerce, or a related discipline with strong understanding of commercial governance and compliance frameworks.
- Proven experience in commercial governance, compliance, audit, or operational risk management within retail, aviation, or commercial operations environments.
- Practical knowledge of airport retail business, including duty-free, food and beverage, and commercial concession operations.
- Understanding of international retail standards, performance criteria, and commercial governance frameworks in airport or retail environments.
- Strong analytical and financial skills with the ability to interpret performance data and prepare governance reports.
- Knowledge of UAE and GCC retail markets, local legislation, and governance requirements relevant to commercial operations.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills with ability to coordinate across multiple business units and external partners.
- Experience supporting audits, managing compliance programs, and implementing corrective actions within structured governance frameworks.
