Job description

Siemens Siprotec-4, Siprotec-5 and Reyrolle relays, together with RTU, SCMS and FMS components, sit at the centre of this Protection Design Engineer position in Abu Dhabi. Each project starts with the specification, scope of work, single line diagram, protection logic diagram and existing system data, plus any clarifications needed from the customer. Retrofit work brings site visits, survey reports, method statements, risk assessments and SAT formats. Base Design documents follow Siemens engineering standards, covering AC/DC load and CT&VT adequacy checks, relay and equipment lists, SCMS architecture, signal lists, FDS and cable schedules. Detailed design for Protection, FMS, RTU and SCMS panels is produced with assistants under your guidance, using A-CAD, ELCAD, EBASE and MS Visio. Swing Frame, Fixed Frame and Dead Front cubicle types all feature in the work. Later stages involve BOQs, RFQ documents to the factory, review of factory construction documents, design change requests and as-built updates. Factory visits, inspections, tests and customer meetings take place alongside the Engineering Manager, Application Manager and project manager. A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and 5 to 8 years in Protection & Automation design are required, with 2 to 3 days of mobile working per week.
