Job description
The Director, FI Client Risk Advisory at Standard Chartered Bank will serve as the first line of defense in managing risk associated with financial institution and Fintech clients, focusing on New Payment Methods (NPM) and Digital Assets. The role involves strategic risk assessment, advising on regulatory compliance, working with cross-functional teams, and supporting relationship managers in onboarding and monitoring client risk. It also includes policy development, training initiatives, governance, and ensuring ethical and regulatory adherence across all client-facing activities.

Key responsibilities
- Support cross-bank collaboration to implement effective processes and controls aligned with the FI client strategy
- Demonstrate deep understanding of client activities, business models, and risk profiles
- Support governance controls and contribute to compliance initiatives
- Critically assess prospective and existing clients against SCB risk tolerance and strategic fit
- Conduct client visits and assessments, particularly within NPM and Digital Asset segments
- Identify emerging risks and recommend mitigation strategies
- Support training and policy communication for Relationship Managers
- Raise key risks through appropriate governance frameworks
- Act as SME for Fintech risk and advise on onboarding documentation and regulatory concerns
- Maintain regulatory knowledge and implement strong governance across the client portfolio
- Support audits and regulatory exams to address high-risk issues
- Prepare and deliver risk and regulatory training within the frontline teams
- Participate in the development of risk tools and processes relevant to Fintech and Digital Assets
- Ensure compliance with all internal and external regulatory requirements
Experience & skills
- Prior experience in Fintech, Banking, Payments, or Digital Assets
- Strong knowledge of financial crime compliance and AML frameworks
- Working knowledge of Fintech regulations in SCB footprint markets
- Experience conducting due diligence and risk assessments
- Relevant certifications such as ICA or ACAMS
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Structured, process-driven mindset with cross-border team collaboration experience
- Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage expectations
- Excellent analytics, reporting, and documentation skills
