Job description
Masdar is seeking a Manager, Financial Planning to oversee government budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder relations for projects such as ZSP and IRENA. The role involves the end-to-end process of financial planning, from monthly and quarterly reporting to budgeting, forecasting, treasury liaison, and statutory compliance. The candidate will support executive-level financial analysis, manage submissions to multiple government entities including DOF, DoE, and EC, and maintain accurate financial records for government-funded initiatives. The position is based in Abu Dhabi and supports Masdarās broader clean energy and sustainability mandate.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Manage the design and preparation of monthly management reports for government funded initiatives.
- Report to CFO and senior management on variances and provide recommendations.
- Submit all financial returns to the Department of Finance (DOF) and Department of Energy (DoE).
- Prepare and submit surveys to the statistics centre (e.g., Financial Investments, Environmental, R&D).
- Ensure accurate accounting for ZSP & IRENA transactions.
- Review GL transactions, reclassify entries, and ensure correct sub-ledger inputs.
- Support project managers with monthly accruals, provisions, and cost monitoring.
- Prepare reconciliations and audit documentation.
- Lead budgeting process and submissions to DOF and DoE.
- Advise Masdar management on government budget matters.
- Prepare manpower budgets in collaboration with Human Capital.
- Forecast drawdowns and coordinate with treasury for cashflow management.
- Challenge and review project budgets and ensure compliance with guidelines.
- Consolidate and maintain year-on-year budgets versus actuals.
- Lead quarterly and yearly forecast exercises and budget review meetings.
Experience & skills
- 6ā8 years of experience in financial planning and reporting.
- 3ā4 years at group financial reporting level in a large multinational.
- Experience in government financial reporting preferred.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Extensive ERP knowledge.
- Strong understanding of IFRS and internal controls.
- Familiarity with international auditing standards.
