Job description
The ALS Field Specialist is responsible for executing field operations of Electrical Submersible Pump (ESP) and surface equipment, ensuring compliance with quality, integrity, and safety standards. The role involves installing, operating, inspecting, and repairing downhole and surface equipment while collaborating with engineering teams to ensure operational excellence and regulatory compliance.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Install, run, inspect, modify, and repair Electric Submersible Pump (ESP equipment) including pumps, motors, cables, and all relevant downhole equipment at the contractor’s base, ensuring all mechanical and electrical components are properly assembled, tested, and prepared for deployment while performing surface connections and operating the ESP equipment to meet the required performance standards and operational satisfaction of the company in field conditions
- Conduct comprehensive pre-commissioning checks and commissioning tests on ESP equipment and associated surface equipment to verify system integrity, confirm readiness for start-up, and ensure continuous operation by identifying potential faults, validating installation accuracy, and ensuring that all operational parameters meet technical specifications prior to energizing the system
- Perform advanced troubleshooting activities by diagnosing faults in ESP equipment, identifying issues in pumps, motors, cables, and downhole equipment, applying corrective actions, and providing technical expertise on safety precautions and operational challenges to minimize downtime and ensure efficient restoration of system functionality
- Execute maintenance of ESP equipment by carrying out routine inspections, preventive maintenance tasks, and repairing any breakdowns in pumps, motors, cable systems, and associated components to maintain optimal performance, extend equipment lifecycle, and ensure uninterrupted production in oil and gas field operations
- Install, operate, and maintain auxiliary systems including Y-tool systems and Variable Speed Drive (VSD system) by ensuring proper configuration, alignment, and functionality while integrating these systems with ESP operations to optimize production efficiency and system control under varying field conditions
- Ensure strict compliance with integrity standards, quality standards compliance, safety standards compliance, and client-specific regulations across all operational activities by following established procedures, adhering to industry best practices, and maintaining documentation and operational discipline in all field operations
- Support the contract engineering team by participating in technical events, contributing field-level insights, assisting in engineering evaluations, and collaborating on problem-solving initiatives related to Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) to enhance operational performance and align field execution with engineering strategies
- Operate within a shift-based working pattern while executing all assigned field operations responsibilities, ensuring consistent service delivery, adherence to operational schedules, and alignment with company policies and procedures in a dynamic oilfield services environment
Experience & skills
- Obtain a Technical related Degree (Diploma or higher) in a relevant engineering or technical discipline that supports understanding of ESP equipment, downhole equipment, surface equipment, and oil and gas field operations, ensuring the candidate possesses foundational technical knowledge required for field execution
- Demonstrate at least 1 year of experience in oil and gas operations with exposure to field operations, equipment handling, and operational environments that involve Artificial Lift Systems (ALS) and Electric Submersible Pump (ESP equipment), ensuring familiarity with industry practices and field conditions
- Possess previous experience in Artificial Lift Systems as a preferred qualification, including hands-on involvement with ESP equipment, troubleshooting, installation, or maintenance activities that directly contribute to efficient production operations in oilfield environments
- Complete and demonstrate industry experience and product line training in ESP equipment, ensuring the ability to understand system configurations, operational procedures, maintenance protocols, and technical troubleshooting techniques specific to Electric Submersible Pump systems
- Ensure capability to perform installation, inspection, modification, and repair of pumps, motors, cables, and downhole equipment, as well as conduct pre-commissioning checks and commissioning tests, reflecting practical competence in handling complex oilfield equipment and systems
- Maintain knowledge and application of quality standards compliance, safety standards compliance, and integrity requirements within oil and gas operations, ensuring adherence to company policies, regulatory frameworks, and client-specific operational guidelines in all field activities
- Demonstrate ability to install, operate, and maintain Y-tool systems and VSD systems, including understanding of their integration with ESP equipment and their role in optimizing production and operational efficiency in varying field conditions
- Hold the legal right to work in Kuwait and meet all employment eligibility requirements, ensuring compliance with local labor laws and readiness to operate in a shift-based working pattern within field operations environments
