Job description
The English Content Editor is responsible for developing, editing, and proofreading a wide variety of content for internal and external use at Qatar National Library. This includes promotional, legal, technical, scientific, and administrative documents, such as reports, articles, presentations, websites, and social media content. The role requires ensuring linguistic quality, grammatical accuracy, consistency in tone and style, and alignment with institutional writing guidelines. The editor will collaborate with stakeholders, designers, and content owners across the Library to produce compelling and factually accurate materials. Duties also include managing content workflows, supporting the Directorâs Office, maintaining style consistency, updating digital content, mentoring colleagues on writing quality, and engaging library visitors. The position demands deep expertise in English language writing and editing, proficiency with editing tools, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage diverse content needs on tight deadlines.

Key responsibilities
- Develop content for various internal and external purposes
- Ensure content quality through thorough proofreading and quality checks
- Write in an engaging, accessible tone consistent across all channels
- Correct spelling and grammar errors and verify factual accuracy
- Work with Library stakeholders to produce and review content
- Adapt content for the appropriate audience and channel
- Use editing software to ensure language and style correctness
- Research terminology and phraseology for natural language use
- Use specialist dictionaries and reference tools for accuracy
- Develop specialist knowledge of library-related terminology
- Support the Director's Office by preparing content and summaries
- Prepare material for final presentation/publication
- Collaborate with designers to ensure visual-text harmony
- Implement QF and QNL writing guidelines consistently
- Develop and share editing style sheets for team-wide use
- Coordinate content approvals within the Library and with stakeholders
- Prioritize workload to meet tight deadlines
- Ensure consistency across online and offline content
- Review and revise English translations prepared by colleagues
- Assist and interact with library visitors when required
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in languages or equivalent
- Masterâs degree in language and linguistics is an advantage
- 5â8 years of experience in content editing or related fields
- Track record of writing for different media and audiences
- Excellent English writing and communication skills
- Ability to work flexibly and manage multiple priorities
- Experience using content management systems
- Strong administrative and time management skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Understanding of social media engagement is a plus
