Job description
The Lead Auditor ā IT Infrastructure at Omantel is responsible for planning, conducting, and reporting on complex technology and network audits as part of the Internal Audit function. This position ensures that IT systems, network configurations, and security controls comply with corporate standards, regulations, and risk management practices. The role involves leading network security assessments, performing vulnerability and penetration tests, and providing recommendations to strengthen infrastructure resilience. Acting as a bridge between technology and governance, the Lead Auditor ensures continuous improvement in Omantelās IT risk and compliance framework.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Independently conduct IT and network infrastructure audits in line with the annual Internal Audit plan and internal standards
- Assess network components including LAN, WAN, firewalls, routers, and switches to evaluate security controls and configurations
- Lead vulnerability assessments (VA) and penetration testing (PT) to identify and document risks, gaps, and control weaknesses
- Collaborate with IT and network teams to verify audit findings and monitor the implementation of corrective actions
- Prepare, review, and validate audit reports ensuring accuracy, clarity, and alignment with internal audit standards
- Perform quality assurance reviews (QAR) to ensure compliance with internal controls and best practices
- Lead compliance monitoring audits to ensure adherence to legal, regulatory, and corporate frameworks within the organization
- Identify, analyze, and escalate potential gaps or risks that could impact financial or operational performance
- Provide recommendations to improve cybersecurity posture, risk management, and data protection processes
- Assist in developing audit methodologies and frameworks for continuous improvement within the IT audit function
- Support the Manager and Senior Manager ā Technology Audit in follow-up audits and implementation tracking
- Ensure timely closure of corrective action requests (CARs) and document all compliance verification activities
- Promote awareness of cybersecurity and information governance through audit insights and advisory support
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or related field
- Professional certifications such as CISA, CISSP, CISM, CEH, CIPM, or CIPP are required/preferred
- 6ā8 years of professional experience in IT or network auditing within large organizations, preferably telecom or technology sectors
- Hands-on experience in conducting audits of network infrastructure and security systems
- Strong understanding of network architecture, cybersecurity frameworks, and IT governance standards
- Proficiency in vulnerability assessment and penetration testing methodologies
- Knowledge of international standards (ISO 27001, NIST, COBIT) and internal audit procedures
- Ability to identify risks, analyze complex technical environments, and propose actionable recommendations
- Excellent communication, reporting, and stakeholder engagement skills
- Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work independently and lead audit teams in high-stakes environments
