Job description
The Head of Content – Wasl Channel role is a senior editorial leadership position responsible for defining content direction, managing daily editorial operations, and ensuring the delivery of culturally sensitive, community-driven content aligned with Wasl Channel’s mission. Reporting directly to the Channel Lead, the role acts as the central coordination point between content teams, production, presenters, reporters, and external clients. The position balances strategic planning with hands-on execution, overseeing monthly content plans, editorial quality, and operational workflows. Responsibilities include coordinating with production to align content objectives prior to filming, managing presenters and field reporters, translating client requests into executable content requirements, overseeing multi-format content coverage including street reports, social media posts, platform X content, and short-form reports, and maintaining structured documentation and reporting using tools such as Monday.com and Google Drive.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Lead and manage the content team including writers, researchers, and field researchers
- Develop content ideas, strategies, and monthly editorial plans aligned with Wasl Channel’s vision
- Ensure all content adheres to local community values, traditions, and cultural sensitivities
- Maintain editorial quality, consistency, clarity, and compliance across all content outputs
- Coordinate closely with the Head of Production to align editorial objectives with filming and execution
- Prepare content briefs and define content purpose prior to production
- Act as the primary point of contact for presenters and field reporters, managing schedules and requirements
- Structure interview questions and provide editorial direction for on-ground reporting
- Manage coordination and approvals for filming at specific locations
- Serve as the main liaison between clients and internal teams, including government and private sector entities
- Translate client requests into clear content requirements and determine internal ownership
- Oversee content delivery from briefing through execution ensuring smooth communication
- Manage daily editorial meetings and oversee content workflow and information gathering
- Maintain documentation, organization, and reporting using Monday.com and Google Drive
- Provide regular updates and performance reports to the Channel Lead
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate proven experience in content leadership and editorial team management
- Exhibit ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on in execution
- Demonstrate strong communication, coordination, and decision-making capabilities
- Exhibit deep understanding of community-focused and culturally sensitive content production
- Demonstrate fluency in Arabic as the primary working language
- Exhibit ability to work effectively in fast-paced and evolving media environments
- Demonstrate strong organizational skills and workflow management capability
