Job description
The Key Account Manager – UAE Nationals role is responsible for engaging with healthcare payers and providers across the United Arab Emirates to enhance AbbVie’s performance across its pharmaceutical portfolio. The role leverages local market expertise to generate actionable market insights, anticipate healthcare system dynamics, identify unmet needs, and develop tailored key account strategies that optimize product access while ensuring patient interests remain central. The position operates in full compliance with AbbVie standards, ethical codes, and all applicable UAE regulations. Responsibilities include building deep understanding of payer and provider decision-making processes, negotiating and finalizing contracts and tenders, monitoring account performance, tracking healthcare policies and reimbursement trends, and translating strategic direction into practical engagement plans. The role works closely with internal stakeholders across sales, marketing, medical, market access, finance, customer excellence, and communications to drive sustainable access and commercial outcomes.

- Develop a deep understanding of business opportunities, decision-making processes, and complexities across assigned key accounts
- Communicate payer decision drivers, unmet needs, and market insights to brand teams to support strategic planning
- Establish and maintain strategic partnerships with payers to identify access barriers and align account objectives
- Negotiate, finalize, and enhance contracting and tendering outcomes to improve product access
- Create tailored engagement strategies and account plans with clear objectives and actions
- Monitor implementation effectiveness and key account performance to enhance commercial impact
- Develop and deliver business reviews and presentations to internal stakeholders
- Build detailed account plans including risk assessments and mitigation strategies
- Coordinate and facilitate meetings, workshops, and training sessions with account stakeholders
- Track market trends, healthcare policies, and regulations affecting access and reimbursement
- Drive continuous improvement by gathering account feedback and initiating internal action
Experience & skills
- Be a UAE National with a valid Family Book
- Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy
- Demonstrate a proven track record in pharmaceutical sales or key account management
- Exhibit expertise in translating strategy into actionable account engagement plans
- Show advanced experience in negotiating and finalizing contracts and managing complex customer networks
- Maintain strong analytical, business planning, and financial skills
- Demonstrate solid knowledge of pharmaco-economic principles
- Possess deep understanding of payer and provider dynamics within the UAE healthcare environment
