Job description
The Senior QA/QC Engineer (Mechanical) at Wood is responsible for overseeing quality assurance and quality control functions across pre-order and post-order procurement activities for multiple oil and gas projects. Based in Sharjah, with occasional business travel to Iraq, the position reports directly to the Lead QA/QC Engineer and supports the delivery of engineering and project management services within EPC and PMC project environments. The role ensures compliance with project quality plans, strategies, and objectives while maintaining rigorous standards across vendor and supplier activities. The engineer will plan and execute audits, participate in external and internal quality reviews, provide input into contract quality risk registers, and monitor nonconformities and corrective actions. Key responsibilities include reviewing and approving technical bid evaluations, contractor documentation (including ITPs and procedures), and inspection reports; coordinating vendor inspections; verifying inspection levels for products and materials; and ensuring closure of quality requirements during project handover. The position also involves contributing to project lessons learned, conducting root cause analysis, managing third-party inspection agencies, and ensuring proper documentation control and reporting. This role plays a vital part in supporting Woodâs commitment to quality, safety, and operational excellence within large-scale international oil and gas projects, including both greenfield and brownfield developments aligned with low-carbon energy transition goals.
