Job description
The Accountant at Shipa Delivery is responsible for managing day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accurate financial reporting within a fast-paced last-mile logistics environment. Based in Dubai, this on-site role supports monthly and annual close processes, maintains the general ledger, and delivers financial insights that enable operational and strategic decision-making. The position requires strong technical accounting capabilities and prior experience within last-mile delivery or logistics operations, with a deep understanding of delivery-related cost structures such as driver wages, fuel, fleet expenses, maintenance, insurance, and third-party carrier fees. The Accountant prepares and reviews monthly financial statements including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow reports, performs reconciliations, posts journal entries, and investigates variances. The role collaborates closely with operations and leadership teams, supports audits and tax compliance, and contributes to process improvement initiatives to enhance financial controls and scalability. Candidates should possess a Chartered Accountant certification or a masterās degree in accounting or finance, at least three years of accounts receivable and payable experience, strong ERP and Excel proficiency, and the ability to operate effectively under tight deadlines in a high-growth logistics setting.

Key responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements including income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
- Lead month-end and year-end close processes including journal entries, accruals, adjustments, and reconciliations
- Maintain and reconcile the general ledger, ensuring accurate classification of financial transactions
- Perform detailed balance sheet and bank reconciliations and investigate discrepancies or variances
- Analyze delivery-related operating costs such as driver wages, fuel, vehicle expenses, maintenance, insurance, and third-party carrier fees
- Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and responding to auditor inquiries
- Assist with tax compliance including sales tax, payroll tax, and coordination with external tax advisors
- Improve accounting systems, processes, and internal controls to support operational efficiency and growth
- Provide ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting to support budgeting, forecasting, and management decision-making
- Collaborate cross-functionally with logistics and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy and insight alignment
Experience & skills
- Chartered Accountant certification or Masterās degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounts receivable and accounts payable functions
- Experience in last-mile delivery or logistics industry required or strongly preferred
- Proven experience in a similar accounting role within a fast-paced environment
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, and ERP/accounting systems
- Strong knowledge of invoicing, billing procedures, and interpretation of commercial and legal terms
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and coordination skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
