Job description
Manual testing slows delivery on banking platforms, and this Lead Test Automation Engineer at RAKBANK's Operation Centre in Dubai is there to cut it down. The role is hands-on and hybrid, covering web, mobile, API, core banking and integration layers across the bank. Automation frameworks built with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, WebDriverIO, Appium and Maestro need to scale across teams. Regression suites are expanded for coverage and speed, and automated tests are built into CI/CD pipelines and quality gates on Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab. API, integration, mobile and performance testing all fall under your lead, using tools like Postman, REST Assured, K6 and JMeter. Test data, environment readiness and automation reporting are yours to own so runs stay reliable. Standards and coding guidelines apply to internal and vendor teams alike, and engineers grow through your code reviews and mentoring. Expect to bring 8 to 10 years in software testing, including 3 leading automation in banking or financial services, with strong Python/PyTest and working JavaScript, TypeScript or Java.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design, development and scaling of enterprise-wide test automation frameworks across web, mobile, API and core banking platforms
- Build regression suites that improve coverage, execution speed and defect detection
- Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and quality gates across the delivery lifecycle
- Direct API, integration, mobile and performance testing for critical banking applications
- Define automation standards, coding guidelines and governance for internal and vendor teams
- Own test data management, environment readiness and automation reporting
- Partner with Engineering, DevOps, Product and Quality teams to embed testability and shift-left practices
- Mentor automation engineers through technical leadership, code reviews and knowledge sharing
- Support intelligent automation, RPA testing and continuous improvement initiatives
- Cut manual testing effort across the bank's platforms
Experience & skills
- Hold a bachelor's degree
- Bring 8 to 10 years of software testing experience, including at least 3 years leading automation in banking or financial services
- Design automation frameworks with tools such as Playwright, Selenium, WebDriverIO, Appium and Maestro
- Program in Python/PyTest with working knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript or Java
- Show proven experience in API automation, performance testing and integration testing
- Use CI/CD platforms such as Azure DevOps, Jenkins or GitLab, including containerized and parallel test execution
- Apply test data management, SQL validation, service virtualization and automation reporting
- Understand retail and business banking systems and digital channels
- Debug and resolve complex quality issues
- Develop high-performing automation teams through strong leadership and communication
