Job description
The Technical Contracts Manager – Aviation Engineering & Maintenance Procurement is responsible for overall Technical sourcing, contract management, and vendor management for Etihad Airways Technical, covering the full portfolio of Technical procurement and maintenance contracts with an approximate OPEX & CAPEX value of $1bn per annum. The scope includes engines & APUs, components, BFE, IFE, wheels & brakes and other maintenance-related contracts, with a focus on complex, high-value, at-risk agreements with OEM and/or MROs. The role ensures fit for purpose processes are established within governance, manages day-to-day sourcing, contracting, and supplier management activities, and ensures internal alignment with CAMO, Legal, Finance, and other stakeholders. Responsibilities include developing sourcing strategies, executing high-value RFPs within DOA and procurement guidelines, negotiating contractual terms and conditions including disputes, managing contract lifecycle performance including SLA’s, claim and dispute management, and maintaining supplier risk and performance management processes. The Technical Contracts Manager owns relationships with suppliers, prepares and maintains vendor footprint documentation and contract summaries, leads vendor executive reviews, develops dashboards, and measures contract performance. The role also identifies and implements process improvement opportunities leveraging digital tools & solutions, leads projects and initiatives as directed, coaches and mentors staff on contract and sourcing management, and ensures compliance with airworthiness regulations, policies, and procedures to support continuing airworthiness under the CAMO function of the airline.

Key responsibilities
- Lead Technical sourcing, contracting, and vendor management for the full portfolio of OPEX and CAPEX contracts including engines & APUs, components, BFE, IFE, wheels & brakes, and other maintenance contracts with OEM and/or MROs, focusing on complex, high-value, at-risk agreements.
- Develop sourcing strategies and execute high-value RFP processes within DOA and procurement guidelines, ensuring competitive and compliant sourcing across multiple product categories including engines, BFE, IFE, components, and maintenance products.
- Negotiate contractual terms and conditions, including dispute resolution, while ensuring alignment with CAMO, Legal, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to deliver optimal commercial outcomes for Etihad Airways.
- Own supplier relationships and implement supplier risk management and vendor performance management processes, including scheduling executive reviews, preparing vendor summaries and dashboards, and measuring contract performance against SLA’s.
- Manage contract lifecycle to ensure optimum financial performance including claim management, dispute management, and remediation of supplier underperformance through structured corrective action plans.
- Prepare and maintain Technical vendor footprint documentation, contract summaries, and governance-compliant contract administration processes to ensure fit for purpose controls are implemented.
- Identify and implement process improvement initiatives leveraging digital tools & solutions to enhance sourcing, contracting, and supplier management efficiency.
- Lead additional projects and initiatives as directed by the line manager or Head of Department, coach and mentor departmental staff on contract and sourcing management best practices, and ensure all airworthiness regulations, policies, and procedures are followed to support continuing airworthiness under the CAMO function.
Experience & skills
- Demonstrate a minimum of 8 years job-related experience within airline or aviation environments, specifically in Engineering & maintenance focused contracts involving BFE, engines, and components.
- Hold a Bachelors in Business Administration or related qualification supporting commercial, procurement, and contract management functions.
- Exhibit proven experience in vendor management and contract management throughout the full contract lifecycle, including sourcing, negotiation, performance management, and dispute resolution.
- Demonstrate strong commercial acumen with the ability to manage high-value OPEX and CAPEX contracts, execute RFP processes, and negotiate optimal contractual terms and conditions.
- Show comprehensive understanding of aviation technical procurement categories including engines & APUs, components, BFE, IFE, wheels & brakes, and maintenance agreements with OEM and/or MROs.
- Demonstrate strong stakeholder management capability and ability to work effectively with senior stakeholders across CAMO, Legal, Finance, and other business units.
- Provide demonstrated project management skills with experience managing multiple concurrent projects and initiatives within a governed procurement framework.
- Ensure knowledge and application of airworthiness regulations, policies, and procedures supporting continuing airworthiness within the CAMO function, maintaining compliance and safety as the highest priority.
