Job description
The Conflicts Advisor will be responsible for conflicts clearance review and analysis for new business intake and lateral hires, working directly with the Conflicts Manager, Senior Conflict Advisors, and lawyers. This role ensures the firm complies with applicable conflict checking rules and procedures, evaluates conflict search results, assists with waiver letters, manages conflict data updates, and supports the Risk & Compliance function. The Advisor will also contribute to policy updates, training projects, and maintain the conflict-checking and reporting systems. The role includes on-call conflict review duties and coordination with various internal committees and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities
- Reviewing, analysing conflict results using Intapp and approving the clearance of conflicts.
- Drafting communications to lawyers, identifying potential issues found in conflict reports.
- Escalating complex conflict issues and liaising with Senior Conflict Advisors as needed.
- Following up with secretaries and lawyers to ensure internal discussions clear any potential conflicts.
- Approving conflict clearance for Compliance to open new matters.
- Assisting lawyers with drafting waiver requests/letters.
- Managing updates to blackbook entries, outside business interests, secondment arrangements, etc.
- Analysing and resolving conflicts independently.
- Assisting Senior Conflict Advisors with conflict enquiries.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on conflicts procedures and policies.
- Supporting the Head of Risk Management & Conflicts in updating policies and procedures.
- Maintaining Intapp and reporting systems.
- Providing weekend coverage for conflict checking and analysis via on-call rotation.
- Contributing to compliance knowledge and training initiatives across the firm.
- Administering information barriers and managing related mailbox.
- Conducting KYC searches at the conflicts review stage and escalating adverse hits to the KYC team.
Experience & skills
- Minimum 2 years' experience in conflicts clearance or new business intake, preferably in an international law firm.
- Working knowledge of conflict-checking tools, especially Intapp.
- Experience in reviewing conflict search results and communicating with legal professionals to resolve complex matters.
- Familiarity with legal industry compliance procedures and policies including KYC protocols.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple matters with a high level of attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for interaction with legal and executive stakeholders.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently while supporting team objectives.
- Experience maintaining and operating risk systems or compliance databases.
- Willingness to work flexible hours including rotational weekend on-call conflict review.
