Job description
The TL, Production Scheduling at OQ8 leads the production scheduling function within the refinery and petrochemical operations, overseeing a team of scheduling engineers. Reporting to the Head of Production Planning & Scheduling, this role ensures optimal translation of plans into executable schedules, integrating maintenance needs, product specifications, and capacity constraints to maximize throughput and efficiency. Responsibilities include managing scheduling software contracts, leading engineering-related scheduling activities, aligning with operational and supply chain teams, and driving continuous improvement in scheduling processes. The position also ensures compliance with safety and regulatory requirements while achieving commercial targets for refining and petrochemical margins.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the production scheduling process for refinery and petrochemical operations.
- Create and maintain schedules for production units, optimizing efficiency based on equipment availability, capacity, raw materials, and demand forecasts.
- Lead engineering scheduling activities, including maintenance and equipment upgrades.
- Manage a team of senior and junior production scheduling engineers, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and resolving issues.
- Collaborate with operations, supply chain, maintenance, and engineering teams to align schedules and priorities.
- Identify and implement improvements to scheduling methodologies, systems, and processes.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety standards in all scheduling activities.
- Manage scheduling application contracts and ensure integration with operational processes.
- Support commercial target setting and deliverables, including refining/petrochemical margin and benchmarking.
- Prepare reports and communicate scheduling plans to stakeholders.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Logistics, Supply Chain, or relevant field.
- Excellent English communication skills (written, spoken, read).
- 10+ years of relevant experience, including refinery or petrochemical industry exposure.
- Strong understanding of refining processes, production operations, and engineering activities.
- Experience in production scheduling or planning roles.
- Knowledge of scheduling methodologies, tools, and software such as SAP, Oracle ERP, Aspen PIMS.
- Previous leadership or supervisory experience with team management responsibilities.
- Ability to lead, motivate, and develop team members.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and safety standards relevant to the industry.
