Job description
The Associate Engineering Director - MEP (Remote Area) will oversee all MEP engineering aspects for a major entertainment and luxury hospitality project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This role includes managing Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire & Life Safety, and systems integration including BMS, SCADA, PMS, CCMS, AV, Lighting Control, Tetra, Security/CCTV, Access Control, and IPTV/IRS. The position involves driving design reviews for compliance, carbon reduction, and operational energy standards, managing commissioning strategies aligned with Mace standards, ensuring high-standard project close-out, and implementing continuous process improvements. The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, negotiation with senior leadership up to C-suite level, supporting tendering and procurement strategies, and using digital tools for productivity and risk management. Candidates must have experience delivering high-value projects, understanding of prefabrication and build strategies, broad exposure across multiple sectors, and awareness of sustainability factors impacting project delivery.

Key responsibilities
- Manage all engineering aspects of MEP services, including Programmes, Health, Safety & Wellbeing, Quality, and Commissioning, ensuring alignment with project objectives and Mace standards.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to implement strategies, initiatives, and technical solutions across complex infrastructure and hospitality projects.
- Influence and negotiate with senior stakeholders, up to C-suite executives, to secure approvals, resolve conflicts, and drive project success.
- Provide technical expertise for tendering, procurement strategies, and specialist packages, reviewing contracts, scope, schedules, and supporting commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive design reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, carbon reduction initiatives, and operational energy standards, and integrate MEP systems with overarching project goals.
- Implement commissioning strategies for all MEP systems, ensuring adherence to project milestones, operational readiness, and quality assurance processes.
- Utilize digital tools and data-driven approaches to assess productivity, identify risks, and optimize project delivery efficiency.
- Ensure high-quality project close-out, documenting lessons learned, facilitating continuous process improvements, and maintaining Mace's standards for excellence in technical delivery.
Experience & skills
- Expertise in Mechanical, Electrical, Public Health, Fire & Life Safety (FLS), and integrated systems including BMS, SCADA, PMS, CCMS, AV, Lighting Control, Tetra, Security/CCTV, Access Control, IPTV/IRS.
- Strong knowledge and practical application of design management principles and construction management techniques.
- Experience with prefabrication strategies and build methods across multiple building types and sectors.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-value projects and programs within a Project Management Consultancy (PMC) environment.
- Proven experience collaborating with internal and external stakeholders and negotiating with senior leadership up to C-suite level.
- Awareness of carbon reduction and sustainability factors impacting MEP and infrastructure project delivery.
- Ability to implement commissioning strategies and oversee project close-out in alignment with organizational standards.
- Necessary visa eligibility for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and experience meeting immigration and client approval requirements.
