Job description
Wood is seeking an experienced Project Quality Lead Engineer to join its Engineering team within the Oil, Gas & New Energies business unit in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This full-time, office-based role is responsible for overseeing and managing quality assurance and control (QA/QC) activities across assigned oil and gas projects, ensuring compliance with ADNOC specifications, international standards, and ISO 9001:2015 requirements. The Project Quality Lead will take full ownership of the project quality management system, developing and enforcing the Project Quality Plan, procedures, work instructions, and Inspection & Test Plans. The role involves leading internal audits, vendor assessments, and risk management reviews to ensure that quality standards are maintained across all project phases. The incumbent will perform technical reviews of engineering documents, specifications, and data sheets to confirm adherence to client and project requirements. Responsibilities also include managing nonconformance investigations, implementing corrective actions, capturing lessons learned, and maintaining comprehensive NCR records. As the primary liaison with the Clientâs Quality Representative, the Project Quality Lead will ensure clear communication and proactive management of all quality-related issues. The ideal candidate will possess at least 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects, including a minimum of 5 years leading quality functions within large-scale offshore detailed engineering projects, particularly under ADNOC standards. An IRCA-certified ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor credential and a strong technical background in document review, auditing, and quality systems implementation are essential.

Key responsibilities
- Assume full responsibility for quality assurance and control (QA/QC) activities across assigned oil and gas projects
- Develop, implement, and maintain the Project Quality Plan, procedures, work instructions, and Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs)
- Ensure the projectâs quality management system is implemented effectively and aligns with ISO 9001:2015 requirements
- Review and approve project specifications, engineering documents, and technical procedures for compliance with client and project standards
- Conduct Inter-Discipline Checks (IDC) including Material Requisitions (MR), datasheets, specifications, and Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE)
- Evaluate vendor documentation and perform audits for compliance and performance verification
- Plan and execute internal audits in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 and contractual obligations
- Organize and perform project and vendor-related audits, including prequalification and performance assessments
- Manage nonconformances by identifying root causes, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and documenting lessons learned
- Maintain and update the Non-Conformance Report (NCR) register, ensuring timely closure of all identified issues
- Apply risk management principles to proactively identify and mitigate quality-related risks
- Ensure full compliance with ADNOC specifications, international standards, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Clientâs Quality Representative on all project quality matters
- Provide training, mentorship, and leadership to project teams to promote a strong quality culture within the organization
Experience & skills
- Bachelorâs degree in Engineering or equivalent technical discipline
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in oil and gas projects, with at least 5 years in a lead quality role for large-scale offshore detailed engineering projects
- Certified and registered IRCA Lead Auditor for ISO 9001:2015
- Strong background in auditing practices, nonconformance management, and corrective action systems
- Comprehensive knowledge of ADNOC specifications, international standards, and regulatory quality requirements
- Experience in reviewing and approving engineering documents to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
- Proficiency in conducting risk assessments and implementing risk-based quality assurance approaches
- Excellent communication, coordination, and reporting skills for client and internal stakeholder interaction
- Strong organizational and analytical abilities with attention to detail
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
