Job description
The MCV Crewing Superintendent is responsible for end-to-end management of crew operations for maritime vessels. This includes planning and executing crew changes with travel and visa arrangements, maintaining accurate rotation schedules, and ensuring proper handover. The role oversees crew performance, appraisals, and disciplinary actions, while ensuring compliance with STCW, Flag State certifications, and medical fitness requirements. The superintendent manages Seafarer Employment Agreements in line with MLC and flag state rules, supports audits, and coordinates recruitment, mandatory training, and career development. Additionally, the role verifies payroll, leave, expenses, and vessel disbursement accounts to ensure cost control and operational efficiency.

Key responsibilities
- Plan and execute crew changes, including visa arrangements, travel logistics, and joining procedures
- Maintain and monitor crew rotation plans and ensure effective handovers between shifts
- Monitor and manage crew performance, including appraisals and disciplinary cases according to company standards
- Ensure all seafarers hold valid STCW and Flag State certifications and meet medical fitness requirements
- Issue Seafarer Employment Agreements in compliance with MLC and flag state regulations
- Support internal and external audits for crewing operations
- Source, screen, and select qualified crew members for deployment
- Coordinate mandatory training, career development, and succession planning for crew members
- Verify payroll, leave, and expenses for crew and review vessel disbursement accounts to control costs
Experience & skills
- Sea-going experience as an officer or a Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies
- Proficiency in crewing software and maritime management systems
- Strong knowledge of STCW, MLC, Flag State regulations, and maritime compliance standards
- Experience in crew planning, rotation management, and scheduling
- Ability to manage performance appraisals and disciplinary procedures
- Experience in recruitment, training coordination, and succession planning
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to support internal and external audits for compliance
- Knowledge of budgeting, payroll verification, and vessel disbursement account management
- Capability to coordinate travel, visas, and crew joining logistics
