Job description
The Principal Technical Architect (Big Data) at Presight in Abu Dhabi is responsible for leading the design and implementation of scalable data architectures that support advanced analytics and AI-driven solutions. This role demands collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering, product, and sales, to ensure that technology strategies align with business goals. The position is deeply technical, requiring expertise in big data infrastructure and architecture, modern data processing tools, and mentorship of technical teams. Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Define and enforce data architecture standards and best practices to ensure quality, scalability, performance, and data integrity
- Perform technical assessments to determine hardware requirements and sizing for big data workloads
- Design robust and scalable data ingestion, transformation, and storage pipelines using modern big data technologies
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical oversight of data engineering teams for implementation on client sites
- Collaborate with platform core development team to enhance data management and processing components
- Identify gaps, create feature requests, evaluate new releases, and perform code reviews
- Comply with policies and procedures related to QHSE, Information Security, Risk, Compliance, and Governance
Experience & skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field; Master's preferred
- Minimum 10 years of experience in data-intensive projects as a Big Data Engineer or Architect
- Strong expertise in big data modelling and architecture best practices
- Proficiency in designing scalable data pipelines and integration workflows
- Excellent knowledge of ingestion, batch and streaming processing, storage, and querying technologies (e.g., Spark, Kafka, Trino, Clickhouse, S3)
- Experience in estimating hardware and infrastructure sizing for analytics workloads
- Fluency in SQL and at least one general programming language (Java, Python)
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Software development experience and familiarity with the product development lifecycle
- Relevant certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect, or TOGAF
- Experience in customer-facing technical roles and providing technical guidance during sales cycles or engagements
