Job description
RMJM is seeking to appoint an experienced Project Architect to support the continued growth of our Dubai Studio. This role involves leading architectural design from concept through construction, supervising junior staff, ensuring adherence to codes and standards, and working directly with clients and project stakeholders. The successful candidate will have significant site supervision experience and a strong understanding of local and international building regulations.

Key responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of architectural projects from concept through to construction.
- Develop and refine design concepts, ensuring design intent is realized in coordination with clients and senior architects.
- Supervise and mentor junior architects, providing guidance on design, technical issues, and coordination.
- Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular project updates.
- Conduct site visits to monitor construction progress and ensure adherence to design intent.
- Ensure that all project documentation complies with industry standards, codes, and regulations.
- Communicate with clarity, purpose, and accuracy across project teams.
- Contribute to team dynamics by promoting positive change and continuous improvement.
- Coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams including Structural, MEP, and Infrastructure consultants.
- Participate in decision-making processes in collaboration with Resident Engineer and relevant disciplines.
- Apply commercial awareness and contractual knowledge to mitigate cost and delay claims from contractors.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās or Masterās degree in Architecture.
- Minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience, including at least 5 years of site supervision experience on complex high-profile projects.
- Society of Engineers/Architectural membership, international accreditation (RIBA, AIA), and sustainability certifications (LEED, PQP) preferred.
- Project Management certification (PMP, IPMA, PMI) is a plus.
- Knowledge of UAE Fire and Life Safety Code, NFPA, IBC, British and American Standards.
- Proven experience in sustainable design principles including Estidama and Green Building regulations.
- Strong understanding of UAE construction practices and material sourcing.
- Excellent time management and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multi-disciplinary teams and coordinate with stakeholders and authorities.
- Commercial awareness and understanding of contracts to help avoid contractor claims.
