Job description
Ain Khaled is the original Doha British Schools campus, opened in 1997, and this part-time maternity cover position teaches secondary English there. Lessons follow the National Curriculum of England, adapted to reflect Qatar's culture, heritage and values, with IGCSE taught at Key Stage 4. Strong subject knowledge matters, since you step into an established department partway through the year and need to keep classes moving without disruption. Expect to plan and deliver lessons, assess progress and give feedback that helps each student improve. Pastoral care carries real weight at DBS, and character development is built into daily school life. Beyond the classroom, the school expects cover staff to contribute through extracurricular activities. Safeguarding is taken seriously, so any appointment depends on an enhanced DBS check and satisfactory references. Applicants need a teaching degree such as a Bachelor's in Education, at least two years of experience with the National Curriculum of England, and must already be in Qatar.
