Job description
The Cerner Clinical Applications Manager at M42ās Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed Hospital in Sharjah oversees the implementation, optimization, and maintenance of clinical application systems to support patient care, ensure regulatory compliance, and align with organizational goals. The role requires comprehensive end-to-end understanding of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) workflows in hospital and clinic settingsāfrom patient registration through dischargeāwhile providing effective Tier 1/Tier 2 support for Cerner and related EMR systems used by physicians, nursing, pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory services. The manager collaborates with cross-functional teams to analyze, design, and enhance EMR processes to improve clinical efficiency and patient outcomes; utilizes healthcare integration technologies (HL7, APIs, JSON, SQL) to enable seamless data exchange and interoperability; and oversees the design, implementation, and ongoing management of healthcare IT infrastructure (servers, networks, data centers, cloud systems, storage) to ensure high availability and performance. Responsibilities include supporting integrations across EHRs, medical devices, patient management systems, and other clinical/business applications, maintaining compliance with relevant regional healthcare regulations, managing vendors, and enforcing system security via updates, vulnerability management, encryption, and access controls. The role provides technical support and guidance to end users for IT infrastructure, EMR access, and connectivity issues, combining strong leadership, project management, and communication with deep clinical workflow understanding to deliver reliable, secure, and interoperable clinical systems within M42ās tech-enabled health network.

- Oversee implementation, optimization, and maintenance of Cerner clinical application systems to support patient care and regulatory compliance.
- Demonstrate and apply comprehensive EMR workflow knowledge across inpatient and outpatient settings from registration to discharge.
- Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support for EMR across physicians, nursing, pharmacy, radiology, and laboratory departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to analyze, design, and enhance EMR processes that improve clinical efficiency and outcomes.
- Leverage HL7, APIs, JSON, and SQL to enable data exchange and interoperability between clinical systems.
- Design, implement, and manage healthcare IT infrastructure (servers, networks, data centers, cloud, storage) for high availability and performance.
- Coordinate integration with EHRs, medical devices, patient management systems, and other clinical/business applications to ensure seamless workflows.
- Ensure adherence to relevant regional healthcare regulations and oversee vendor management for clinical applications.
- Maintain system security through regular updates, vulnerability management, encryption, and access control.
- Provide technical support and guidance to end users on EMR, IT infrastructure, access, and connectivity issues.
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās degree in Health Informatics, Information Technology, or a related field; Masterās preferred.
- 5+ years of experience with Cerner applications build and maintenance in a healthcare setting.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Proven leadership and project management experience in healthcare IT.
