Job description
The VP, Business Development ā Travel at Mastercard leads commercial strategy across the EEMEA travel ecosystem including airlines, hotels, OTAs, and TMCs. The role drives profitable revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and innovative payment and digital solutions. Responsibilities include owning go-to-market strategies, negotiating complex multi-year deals, managing high-impact client portfolios, and orchestrating multi-functional teams. The ideal candidate brings senior-level travel industry experience, deep commercial acumen, strong analytical skills, and the ability to influence C-level stakeholders. The VP plays a pivotal role in enhancing Mastercardās relevance and brand in the travel sector through thought leadership, embedded payments, and strategic enterprise deals.
Required skills
Key responsibilities
- Own the go-to-market and revenue strategy for a portfolio of high-impact travel clients including global airlines, hotel chains, and digital travel intermediaries
- Negotiate and oversee complex multi-year deals based on partnership strategies developed with travel revenue, distribution, technology, and CX leaders
- Identify and assess new commercial opportunities across the travel value-chain using Mastercardās payments and beyond-payments capabilities
- Lead design and delivery of programs that drive spend, revenue yield, engagement, and retention
- Orchestrate high-performing matrixed teams across stakeholders, and engage as a collaborative partner when appropriate
- Strengthen Mastercardās brand through executive-level influence and storytelling
- Lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams focused on accountability, inclusion, and growth
Experience & skills
- Extensive travel industry expertise from senior commercial roles within airlines or broader travel industry
- Proven success in leading multi-million-dollar P&Ls and negotiating high-impact partnership deals
- Ability to engage and influence C-level clients and senior stakeholders in matrixed environments
- Strong analytical skills with understanding of P&L drivers, performance forecasting, and business case development
- Experience leading cross-regional teams and multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Track record of talent development, inclusion, and leading high-performing teams
- Entrepreneurial mindset and knowledge of emerging trends and innovative solutions in travel ecosystem
