Job description
The Planner V at Wood in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia, is responsible for the effective day-to-day delivery of both hard and soft facilities services at a single site, acting as the planning focal point for specific project scopes within the oil and gas sector. This senior planning role covers the full project lifecycle, ensuring project schedules and control structures are aligned with approved Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and corporate standards. Key responsibilities include reviewing and maintaining baseline project plans using scheduling software such as Primavera, monitoring project progress, assessing the impact of changes, and producing progress and performance status reports in line with contract reporting requirements. The Planner V liaises with engineering, procurement, and construction teams, as well as third parties, to maintain visibility of project activities and ensure alignment with schedule and manpower requirements. The role also involves schedule risk analysis, project controls compliance reviews, mentoring junior planning staff, and ensuring critical path and total float are clearly identified. Candidates are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, a minimum of 5 years’ scheduling/planning experience, advanced knowledge of Primavera and related tools, and expertise in earned value management, WBS/CBS structures, cost management, change control, and risk analysis.

Key responsibilities
- Act as the planning focal point for assigned project scopes
- Develop and maintain planning control structures aligned with approved WBS
- Review and maintain baseline project plans and schedules using scheduling software
- Monitor and control planning activities throughout the project lifecycle
- Liaise with engineering, procurement, construction, and third parties to maintain schedule awareness
- Provide project plans, schedules, and progress reports in accordance with reporting requirements
- Update project plans, schedules, and manpower requirements as needed
- Assess and document schedule impacts from change notifications
- Monitor overall project progress, milestone achievement, and performance against plan
- Attend project progress and performance meetings
- Coordinate with cost management to forecast man-hour budgets and assess change requests
- Participate in schedule risk analysis
- Lead project controls compliance and continuous improvement reviews
- Mentor and support the career development of planning personnel
- Ensure schedules are fully logic linked, critical paths identified, and resources allocated per corporate standards
Experience & skills
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technical or business discipline or equivalent vocational/industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant scheduling/planning experience
- Advanced knowledge of Primavera and other scheduling software
- Advanced understanding of logic and CPM analysis, resource loading and levelling
- Advanced knowledge of Project Execution Procedures for Scheduling
- Advanced understanding of WBS and CBS structures and project reporting
- Ability to prepare resource loading, progress, and staffing plans
- Strong earned value management skills, including cost/schedule variance analysis and trending
- Experience in what-if scenario planning
- Advanced understanding of project management principles and techniques
- Strong understanding of cost management, change control, planning risk analysis, and management
- Prior experience in a senior planning role
