Job description
The Associate Director, Priority Clients, at Standard Chartered Bank in Bahrain is responsible for managing and expanding relationships with high-net-worth clients under the Priority Banking program. The role focuses on revenue and volume growth through acquisition, retention, and cross-selling of the bankās suite of consumer and wealth management products. The incumbent will act as the primary advisor to clients, offering holistic financial solutions across investments, assets, and liabilities while ensuring compliance with local and international banking regulations. The position demands a high level of financial acumen, risk management awareness, and relationship-building expertise to deepen wallet share and enhance customer satisfaction. This role also includes collaborating with internal stakeholders such as Wealth Management, Credit, Operations, and Product teams to deliver a seamless and compliant client experience.

Key responsibilities
- Manage and grow relationships with high-net-worth clients under the Priority Banking program, driving portfolio profitability and product penetration
- Engage clients regularly to assess financial goals and provide customized banking, investment, and advisory solutions
- Retain and expand client portfolios by identifying cross-sell opportunities and deepening existing relationships
- Conduct client profiling and financial needs analysis to deliver holistic portfolio management and wealth planning
- Collaborate with Wealth Management, Credit, and Operations teams to ensure smooth service delivery and compliance with internal processes
- Perform suitability assessments and ensure adherence to KYC, AML, and data privacy regulations
- Monitor and manage portfolio performance, ensuring delivery against financial targets and client satisfaction metrics
- Convert service recovery incidents into relationship-enhancing opportunities
- Gather competitive intelligence on market trends, competitor offerings, and customer preferences to refine sales strategies
- Contribute to continuous process improvement and compliance governance within Priority Banking operations
- Ensure all communications with clients are recorded and compliant with Treating Customers Fairly principles
- Support the Head of Priority Banking and Affluent Banking in achieving business KPIs related to acquisition, retention, and profitability
Experience & skills
- Bachelorās Degree in Finance, Business, or related field (CFA or FAP certification preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of proven experience in client relationship management within retail or wealth banking
- Deep understanding of financial products including deposits, loans, investments, and insurance
- Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills with the ability to engage diverse, multicultural clients
- Demonstrated success in portfolio management, cross-selling, and client acquisition
- Sound knowledge of banking regulations, KYC, AML, and compliance procedures
- Proven ability to make independent business decisions based on sound financial judgment
- Proficiency in core banking systems and familiarity with wealth management platforms
- Strong knowledge of market dynamics, investment instruments, and asset allocation principles
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining superior customer service standards
