Job description
Monitor the HSE performance and practices to ensure that operations and plant assets are operating safely and in accordance with the HSE standards, policies, and procedures. Act as a focal point for HSE management systemsâ implementation, while providing support for the respective functions and personnel. Provide recommendations and feedback to HSE Technical Function or HSE Advisors to ensure proper resolution of incidents and the implementation of HSE development projects within the respective area, including plants and assets, while facilitating HSE communications and training courses for personnel.

Key responsibilities
- Monitor the HSE inspection to ensure that the products, services, equipment, and any other item listed for inspections meet HSE standards and are safe for use.
- Review reports, feedback and inputs by other functions to ensure aligned and timely support for any HSE-related matter.
- Monitor HSE compliance and performance by staff, and participate in complex and high-impact HSE inspection activities.
- Act as first point of contact for safety, health and environment aspects for the companyâs HSE management systems.
- Revise purchasing standards to ensure equipment and material purchased meet applicable safety codes.
- Identify hazardous and risk activities and take steps to mitigate risks and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials.
- Monitor HSE tools and equipment to support safety processes.
- Recommend preventive maintenance programs to ensure safety equipment and installations remain in optimal condition.
- Contribute to the development of plant safety programs and ensure availability of relevant safety materials.
- Prepare and update safety inspection checklists and schedules.
- Lead and participate in HSE studies such as Impact Assessment, HAZOP, HAZID, and Root Cause Analysis.
- Audit and assess deployed projects and initiatives for sustainability and improvement.
- Lead environmental initiatives and housekeeping activities in the plant.
- Assess and facilitate HSE training needs and programs.
- Monitor evacuation drills to ensure emergency preparedness.
- Communicate HSE policy and procedure updates.
- Prepare analysis and reports for HSE activities.
- Analyze accidents and recommend preventive actions.
- Participate in accident investigations as directed.
- Lead HSE communications during crises.
- Plan, supervise, and coordinate activities to meet functional objectives.
- Train and develop assigned staff.
- Support budget preparation and highlight variances.
- Implement approved policies and procedures.
- Contribute to performance management.
- Design and implement tools for operational efficiency.
- Identify and apply best practices for internal process improvement.
- Ensure compliance with relevant HSE policies and legislation.
- Provide inputs for management reports.
- Liaise with internal departments such as Operations, Technical, Projects, and HSE Technical.
- Engage with external parties like Auditors, Civil Defence, and HSE Contractors.
Experience & skills
- Bachelor Degree in Safety, Industrial Engineering, or related engineering fields.
- 8 years of experience, including at least 3 years as a Safety or HSE Engineer.
- Experience in HSE project implementation, inspections, training, and systems.
- Hands-on experience with Risk Assessment Studies: TRA, HAZID, HAZOPS, PSSR, HSEIA.
- Professional certifications such as ISO 9001, NEBOSH, NIOSH NPG, ISO 14001 / RC, ISO 27000.
