Job description
The Director, Global Media Relations - International, at AstraZeneca leads external communication strategies with a strong focus on media relations to shape the company's external reputation. Based in Dubai, this role supports global and regional planning and execution aligned with the International and Europe & Canada regions and the Global Media Relations team. The Director develops and drives media campaigns, builds strong relationships with global and regional media outlets, acts as a company spokesperson, and provides media coaching to senior leaders. The position also includes leading issues and crisis management communication, digital strategy implementation, and capability building across media and social media functions.

Key responsibilities
- Develops and executes media relations campaigns for AstraZenecaās International and Europe & Canada regions
- Builds and maintains relationships with key media including business, trade, and broadcast outlets
- Acts as spokesperson for the company and responds to media inquiries
- Drafts press releases, statements, and executive messages for company announcements
- Coaches senior leaders on external communications and media interview techniques
- Leads issues management and supports crisis communication preparedness
- Develops and implements digital channel strategies across social media, blogs, and websites
- Establishes media and social media measurement frameworks in collaboration with affiliates
- Assesses and builds media relations capability across regional markets
- Supports senior leadership with strategic communications planning and execution
Experience & skills
- 10ā15+ years of experience in media relations for multinational companies
- Proven record managing media relations involving complex issues including litigation and financial reporting
- Experience building and maintaining media relationships across financial, trade, and consumer sectors
- Previous experience in a global or regional communications leadership role
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Track record of partnering with senior leaders for media engagement
- Knowledge of the pharmaceutical or healthcare sector is desirable
- Prior experience in journalism is an advantage
- Bachelorās degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
