Job description
The Senior In-house Legal Counsel at Deriv in Dubai will provide strategic leadership and manage complex legal and regulatory matters in the fintech sector. This role involves proactively mitigating legal risks, shaping corporate policies, and advising on high-impact business projects. The counsel will integrate legal technology and AI tools into workflows, streamline contract management, and improve process efficiency. Acting as a key advisor, this role ensures compliance across global markets, supports strategic decision-making, and empowers teams to operate with confidence within legal and regulatory frameworks.

Key responsibilities
- Lead high-risk and complex legal matters across Deriv’s operations
- Collaborate cross-functionally to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risks
- Develop, enhance, and implement policies on contract governance, negotiation, and compliance
- Conduct advanced legal risk assessments and prepare mitigation strategies
- Support business projects with actionable, data-driven legal advice
- Drive legal process automation using technology and AI tools
- Elevate company-wide awareness of legal and regulatory developments through training and guidance
- Ensure alignment of legal risk management with business growth objectives and contractual obligations
- Provide clear communication of complex legal concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Experience & skills
- University degree in Law or relevant field
- Minimum 6 years experience in a corporate legal environment
- Strong understanding of fintech industry regulations and legislative developments
- Proficiency in conducting nuanced risk assessments and providing actionable legal guidance
- Expertise in complex technological and financial systems in legal context
- Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, attention to detail
- Strategic thinking with the ability to analyse complex problems and deliver pragmatic solutions
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English
