Job description
The Manager β Corporate and International M&A Tax (Direct Tax) at Grant Thornton UAE leads and manages a team providing strategic tax advisory, compliance, and risk management services related to corporate tax, transfer pricing, and international tax matters. The role involves advising clients on complex domestic and international tax issues, including cross-border transactions, reviewing complex business tax returns, supporting tax due diligence for buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, responding to tax authority inquiries, and ensuring adherence to the OECD BEPS Inclusive Framework, including Pillars 1 and 2. The manager oversees corporation tax deliverables, coordinates with other tax teams and international member firms, prepares supporting schedules, and participates in client proposals, seminars, and business forums. This position requires technical proficiency, commercial awareness, and the ability to consult on technical and risk-related matters, while leading, coaching, and motivating teams to deliver high-quality performance.

Key responsibilities
- Lead, manage, motivate, and coach team members to ensure high-quality performance in tax advisory and compliance
- Demonstrate understanding of complex domestic and international tax concepts and apply them to client matters
- Participate in bids and proposals for prospective clients
- Consult with Partners and management on technical and risk-related tax matters
- Contribute to presentations and seminars for business forums
- Review complex business tax returns with international elements and provide recommendations for accuracy and tax optimization
- Research and analyze international and domestic tax issues
- Respond to inquiries from tax authorities and ensure compliance with regulations
- Act as key point of contact with stakeholders to understand business developments, compliance obligations, legislative changes, and tax opportunities
- Oversee corporation tax deliverables within broader projects, coordinating with other tax teams and international member firms
- Manage tax due diligence assignments for buy-side and sell-side M&A transactions, supporting the lead advisory team
- Negotiate fees and ensure timely billing for client engagements
- Prepare supporting schedules based on detailed analysis of underlying documentation
Experience & skills
- Have 5+ years of related work experience in UAE corporate tax as well as M&A tax
- Hold a Bachelorβs degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field
- Be professionally qualified (CTA, CA, CPA, ACCA, or relevant qualifications)
- Demonstrate strong written and spoken English; Arabic proficiency is advantageous
- Exhibit exceptional leadership and coaching skills to develop teams and add value within the department
- Be technically proficient with strong technical aptitude and commercial awareness, advising clients on complex tax-related issues
- Be willing and able to work additional hours as needed and travel to various client sites
