The HSE Lead (Health, Safety & Environmental Management Systems) role at Egis, an international engineering, consulting, construction engineering, and mobility services organization operating across 100 countries, is a senior-level position based in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, responsible for leading and overseeing comprehensive health, safety, and environmental (HSE) programs across infrastructure, engineering, and development projects. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and maintaining HSE policies, procedures, and management systems aligned with local Saudi Arabian standards and international HSE regulations, including ISO standards, to ensure full regulatory compliance and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility. The HSE Lead is responsible for conducting regular risk assessment activities and safety audits to identify hazards, implementing corrective and preventive actions, and leading incident investigation processes including root cause analysis to prevent recurrence. The position involves collaborating with management and cross-functional department heads to ensure HSE compliance across all operational activities, while acting as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external HSE auditors. The role requires designing and delivering HSE training programs to improve employee awareness, competence, and adherence to safety standards. The HSE Lead monitors and evaluates HSE performance metrics, conducts HSE data analysis, and prepares detailed reports for senior management to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives. Key responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive HSE policies, procedures, and management systems in alignment with Saudi regulations and international ISO standards to ensure organizational compliance
- Conduct regular risk assessments and safety audits to identify hazards, implement corrective actions, and enhance workplace safety and environmental performance
- Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and develop preventive measures to minimize recurrence and strengthen safety systems
- Collaborate with management and department heads to ensure HSE compliance across all operations and integrate safety practices into business processes
- Design and deliver HSE training programs to enhance employee awareness, competence, and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
- Monitor and evaluate HSE performance metrics, conduct HSE data analysis, and prepare detailed reports for senior management to support strategic decision-making
- Stay updated with local and international HSE regulations and ensure continuous compliance with Saudi Arabian standards and global best practices
- Manage HSE-related projects and initiatives to drive continuous improvement in safety and environmental performance across operations
- Act as the primary point of contact for regulatory agencies and external HSE auditors, ensuring successful audits and compliance verification
- Promote a positive safety culture through effective leadership, communication, and engagement across all levels of the organization
Experience & skills
- Hold a Bachelorās degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field providing foundational expertise in HSE management and engineering practices
- Possess a minimum of 15 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within engineering, construction, infrastructure, or consulting environments
- Maintain professional certifications such as CSP (Certified Safety Professional) or NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) demonstrating advanced competency in HSE practices
- Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of local Saudi Arabian HSE regulations and international standards including ISO standards and environmental compliance frameworks
- Exhibit proven expertise in risk assessment, safety audits, incident investigation, and root cause analysis within complex operational environments
- Demonstrate strong proficiency in developing and implementing HSE management systems, policies, and procedures aligned with regulatory requirements
- Show capability in designing and delivering effective HSE training programs to enhance workforce awareness and compliance
- Possess strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple HSE initiatives and drive continuous improvement programs
- Demonstrate experience in HSE data analysis, performance metric monitoring, and preparation of detailed HSE reports for senior management
- Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a detail-oriented approach and the ability to make decisive actions while maintaining a safety-first mindset
